Way too soon to see what 2015 brings, but I'm not going to hold my breath for improvements. Just not a big seller.
That's the point the dealer was making to me. He said he thought it was a super retro machine, and if Honda would promote it properly, they would see a ton of them. He was very frustrated with Honda's efforts in that department (marketing), not the bike itself. Thought that was very interesting.

The salesman at our local dealership told me that since their stock is seasonally based, quads and dirt bikes are the first promoted in the autumn, street bikes are not announced until late fall. His opinion (take it as a grain of salt) is that there will be a 2015 model, but probably not a 2016. Only so many middle aged men in the market, Harley has a built a large following among them, and the retro market concerning the CB is most likely saturated by then. The CB market is a niche market, it's not a 2 up travel machine nor is it a true performance sport bike.

This was how the Fury played out. After everyone who wanted one got one, the market for them pretty much dried up. In 2009, I was sure that soon the streets would be awash in Furys, just like the range of 1978+ Yamaha Specials.. As it turns out, I rarely see a Fury on the road.

gossman's got it, although the CB probably hits the Bonneville harder than Harley. In general, Honda's throwing a lot of spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. I think they are finding that the high end CB sells well. Just from observation, seems like the DLX moves faster than the Std. Not a knock on the Std - could be the same story for the Bonnie. (Just guessing the SE and T100 outsells the standard Bonneville.)
Happy here with the '14 but would like to see the model continue. Big Red is engaged in the market and trying a lot of different things.

If Honda would spend some of the billions they have to promote the CB with some TV ads they might sell some more of them. Nobody even knows anything about the bike when I am out on mine,they are like I never knew they made a retro bike like that! then they say I had a CB750 back in the day

Get a lot of gas station conversation out of the CB here in Ohio when I'm out riding the hills.

Doesn't seem like "selling a lot of them" is really the strategy. While Honda does have several mainstays in the lineup, they are always pushing the envelope with the R&D and new concepts. This, IMO, is what makes them a great company.
Just when everyone bemoans a model dropping out, they freshen things up with more goodies while the other companies just keep reinventing the same old thing.

If Honda does not continue the CB1100 in 2015, I would not be too disappointed as I enjoy having a bike that is a little unique and not very common. My only concern would be availability of replacement parts as I tend to keep my vehicles for many years. My current car is a 2005 Honda Element and love the looks of that car. If I had to replace it, I would not know what to get as current offerings by car manufacturers are too "cookie cutter" in design.

I think replacement parts will not be too big a problem since they've been selling the bike in Japan and some other markets since 2010.. it may continue to take a long time to get things in stock, though! Took a couple months when I got knocked off and needed some new crankcase covers and such.
