You should see some of the threads (another forum) about "squatters" in the left lane from people out here. As far as they are concerned, if they are going faster than you are, no matter if you are already speeding, then you SHOULD get out of their way. And if you don't then YOU should get the ticket for blocking them. It's crazy.
We do not live in Germany and we don't drive on the Autobahn. You (they) don't get the "flash to pass" right and if someone already exceeding the speed limit as well as PASSING those in the lane to the right of them, get over yourself. You'll probably get where you are going a whole 5 seconds later than you would have had they not been there in the first place.

Agreed. Article makes the point that drugs and alcohol were not a factor, as if not wearing a helmet was not cause enough.

It is illegal to ride without a helmet anywhere in Australia. It is also illegal to drive or be a passenger in a car and not wear a seatbelt. I'm unhappy about much of the over-regulation of the so-called 'nanny state' but the evidence is in about both helmets and seat belts. To me, anyway, it makes no sense to ride without a helmet or drive without a seat belt.

Just sayin'.

It is actually a Washington state law that drivers that are not passing other cars need to move to the right. No camping in the fast lane, regardless of speed. Now the fact that *everyone* ignores it is rather painful. It's especially bad when many of our main highways are two lane only each direction.

The joke around here is that there is lead/follow everywhere else but we have lead/follow/accompany where the driver in the fast lane just paces the car next to them for miles. On the plus side, the police are actually starting to enforce the law and give people tickets as it leads to a lot of road frustration.
