Wheels Through Time Museum

For those of you going to the rally or passing anywhere near Maggie Valley, I posted the comment below in the CB1100 Rally info page but i don't want to clog it with chatter about the museum.

My original post:
"If you have never been to the "Wheels Through Time" museum, it is a "must do" if you are planning on being in the area. I was there last summer after visiting the Barber Museum.
During my visit, I met Dale and asked him about the "odd looking Harley with a BMW motor" that was on display. He enthusiastically told me that this was in fact a Harley-Davidson with a Harley-Davidson motor (a Harley XA if I remember correctly.) and asked me if I wanted to hear and see it run!?
He began to push some bikes out of the way, he hopped on the bike, fired it up in the museum and began to ride it down the aisles as he shouted at people to get out of the way! It was loud and smoking up a storm! He rode it through the lobby out the front door and zoomed up and down the parking lot a few times to the amazement of me and the other visitors!
I didn't get to ride the bike, but I did get my picture sitting on it next to Dale. I'll find and post that picture tonight!"

We visited the museum in 2009. Nicely done static displays featuring scores of vintage American bikes. A must see destination.

Visited WTT in 2013 on my CB. I described it to someone as having a lot of gems and a lot of junk. Some very very cool stuff in there, and some motorcycles you are likely to never see anywhere else like Traubs, Reading Standards, Aces, Pierces and Ridges.. When you see what early motorcyclists rode, you will really appreciate your CB1100.

BTW for those going to the rally one of my planned rides is to the Highest Point of the BRP sign in Eddies picture for a photo op if anyone wants to ride along.

Thanks for sharing this Egalvarez !! My boss owns a beautiful cabin up on a ridge overlooking Maggie Valley, I was up there this past year but didn't know about this museum. I'll definitely be checking it out next time they offer up the cabin to me. Looks like you are on a nice journey . Enjoy !

I wlll be taking a trip down there this summer to see the museum. It looks like you could spend a week in there and not see everything.

Its actually not that big, but yes, if you are an old American bike nut, you could easily lose an entire day there. My only complaint was that is was too dark inside. Kind of like being in a old barn with dim lights; maybe to hide the "patina".
But in all fairness, I had just spent half a day in the Barber Motorsports museum 48 hours earlier. That place is huge, walls of glass with bright light flooding the place, the bikes are spread way out for viewing pleasure and the openness...and it cost $20,000,000.

I'll post up a few pictures from my trip there as well if you all don't mind...
