Crazy few days.
#1
Every once in a while I'm reminded that I don't know as much as I'd like to think I do (and I don't even really think that I know all that much to begin with). This past week was a good example. Combine hosting limitations with some less than efficient forum software settings and you might find yourself blocked from the very forum that you set up (yes, that's where I found myself). I now think that all is well with the forum setup for the time being. Fingers tightly crossed. I'm sure that I'll have other similar bridges to cross down the road as this place grows.

I also launched the forum store, only to shut it down after just a few minutes over some configuration confusion (anyone detecting a pattern?). This lead to a bit of confusion for a few folks. Again, my apologies to Cormanus for a crazy sequence of events. Cormanus was the first official forum store customer. He placed his order only to watch the store link removed shortly after ordering. (I believe that your order should be fulfilled in the next couple of days.) After umpteen emails between myself and the businesses I'm using to handle t-shirt sales and printing I think that everything is finally in order.

So now both the forum itself as well as the forum store are up and running. Hopefully without more irritating error messages or general confusion for everyone that enjoys hanging out around this place.

Anyone know what this is?

If you guessed, a capybara, you're right. I like to think of them as Australian guinea pigs. And this particular Australian guinea pig, I like to call Cormanus.

You will let us know how the ordering goes, won't you Cormanus?

Happy to MG. I can report that there was no problem on the ordering site. I can also report that the punters there relieved my of the folding stuff with the alacrity one should expect from entrepreneurial types. I can also report I got confirming emails pronto.

However, I gather they then started touching up Guth for the money or wanting to send him the t-shirt or something like that.

But I shall report when (sound positive here, Cormanus) the t-shirt arrives.

It turns out that I simply wasn't clear on the process flow. Things were functioning properly, they just weren't as I had understood them. Cormanus, I hope the shirt doesn't disappoint once it finally makes it way to you.

MG, I think they're actually from South America and are found to be delicious to Caimans and Jaguars.

Guth, thanks for working through the IT issues, I spend much of my time doing the same thing for my day job, although get paid for it:-)

It might sound a bit cheesy, but the simple fact that folks like yourself take the time to say thanks for such effort tends to make it all worthwhile. When all is said and done, I feel like the kid that built the clubhouse and as a result I typically end up being the one to clean the place up during the down times. (How on earth I ever managed to get that other kid, ferret something or other, to chip in and help with all this while remaining happy about it is simply beyond me.)
.
Besides, I don't think that there is any way that my company would ever trust me to be the guy who runs an online forum with members around the globe. ROFL

Well I'll say thanks Guth. This is the best board I've ever been on and have "met" some really nice people on here. Even Cormanus Tongue

And anyway, its not like its your fault that the hosting service has problems! And I'm still taking credit for being first to nominate Ferret for moderater Big Grin
