I've got my first trip scheduled for April - Texas Hill Country.
Approximately 3 days, covering about 750 miles total.
Question is, chain lubing. I'm guessing it would be prudent to bring the lube, and plan on at least one application during the trip.
Thoughts, suggestions?
With my CTX700, I was lubing about every 500 miles.
Thanks...

I always take chain lube in my kit when traveling. If you spend a day traveling in rain you'll want to dry and inspect the chain at day's end and re-lube.
My favorite place to stay in the Hill Country is Boerne, TX. Very nice Hampton Inn there convenient to everything and great Hill Country roads in every direction. Do not miss riding the River Road along the Guadalupe River.

Thanks, redbirds... I avoid riding in rain or on wet roads but mother nature happens.
And Boerne is beautiful. The Hill Country is my most favorite place in Texas - to visit and ride. April requires extra caution because of deer.
I usually stay in Fredericksburg, at the Sunset Inn on Hwy 16. It's an old motor lodge that's been renovated.
Anyway, I digress - but yes, will take my lube.
Thanks again.

I've been using DuPont teflon Chain Saver lately. I've got the big can in the garage and they make a convenient little 3.5 oz. can for traveling.

I bring the chain lube, but I've only used it once or twice on trips and that's because it rained very hard. I know that folks reapply every couple hundred miles, but it's a bit of overkill IMO.

I've been re-lubing/cleaning about every 500 miles. Unless, like you say exposed to rain or water.
I, also use the Dupont Teflon stuff, but only have the Large can... will pick up a small can for travel purposes.
... thanks

500 miles is the typical chain lube (you "may" have to adjust it too) so in your case, half way through your trip, lube it up, instead of the 500 mile tick.
Bring a tire plug kit too.
