Might be able to use my bike for work!
#1
I learned today that we might be able to use a motorcycle for work at my new job. That would be perfect. In the Los Angeles area, traffic is ridiculous and the bike saves so much time. That reimbursement program would really pay off with the mileage the CB1100 should be capable of. I have to double check with my regional manager, but it will be cool if I'm able to spend my time on 2 wheels instead of 4. Remaining hopeful...

I do it all the the time. My boss always thinks my gonna be late to meetings. Burbank to Santa Monica ~ 30 minute no problem. Mileage is a huge plus.

Used to enjoy visiting clients offices while on a motorcycle, always an excellent way to start a conversation.
I especially enjoy NOT riding to clients offices since I retired!

LOl I wrecked my Civic in 2006 and was forced to ride my bike for work for a few weeks. I hated it. Riding a bike is what I do for fun, even if I do it every day. At least I get to decide NOT to ride if the weather is really crappy. Being forced to ride regardless was terrible. lol

I bought my CB to commute. I ride every day - rain or shine. Although I ride the TW200 on rainy days. A) I don't care if it gets dirty (it's a dual sport) & B) it's slower, therefore safer in rainy conditions (at least in theory). Commuting via motorcycle compared to a cage saves me 20 minutes on my ride home in the evening. I work my way as close as possible to the red light. Cagers in the back will wait through two lights & maybe more if there's construction or an accident. Riding to work is a push 'cause at O-dark-thirty in the morning, there is no traffic. When I worked downtown, motorcycle parking was free. In addition to saving time, it's less stressful and the ride in in the morning is fun due to no traffic.

i commute on a '79 CB750 40mi round trip, +/- 4 days a week, 8 months of the year.

i'm in a rural area, so that makes a big difference. actually, i'm in a place where people come from all over the world to ride. but, i admit , that i wimp out and cage it when the weather is bad.

big respect for those of you in the cities!

Weather is pretty good here most of the year. I was not allowed to use a bike at my last job, but it sounds like you can use one at the new company. That would be pretty cool.

So did I. After three straight years though it just about killed riding for me with all the fighting constant traffic and idiot drivers. I really missed the fun of riding so I quit the commute. I'm so glad I did it. Now when I get on the bike all the fun is there, every time. I'm all the way back to why I ride in the first place.

I commute on my bike every day, I don't have a car. Granted, my commute's about 2 miles and Southern California's weather makes this decision easy lol. But I can get to work in about 5 minutes. If I was in a car, it certainly would be at least 10 minutes. Life's rough...

That's awesome Ryan, they shouldn't have a problem with it. I guess it depends on what you are doing. I commute to work on mine and most days I have to run out to the field for miscellaneous jobs. Now it seems like I put on about 100 miles a week working on my bike. !! the mileage adds up quickly. Never thought I'd get paid to ride a motorcycle Smile Life is good.
