First Time Buyer Looking For Advice
#1
First time looking to buy a new motorcycle and need some advice. A dealer in Connecticut is offering a New 2014 CB1100 Standard:

Bike - $7800
Destination - $600
Prep - $200
-------------
Total $8600 (not including tax/reg)

I was thinking $7,500 was fair but not really sure. Any input would be great. I understand the dealer needs to make their money but this is a 2 year old bike now.

Is the dealer factoring in the Honda Bonus Bucks offer in the $7800 price? If not, $6800 with the promo applied would be a great price.

Good luck!

On the one hand, it is a two year old bike and maybe the dealer should want to move it off his floor. On the other hand, it's a limited production bike (as it turned out) and the specific bike IS new (as in, not used), so maybe it's not a bad price. I'd say that if you think it's a good price, then it's a good price. It's a lot cheaper than I paid for my new 2013 and that was in 2013.

Probably about $800 too high. A quick search on Cycle Traders shows quite a few dealers across the nation with a starting price of $6999 before shipping and prep. You could use these prices for negotiating if you are willing to drive for one.

Thank you for the replies. I think ultimately $7,500 is fair. Maybe not the best deal, certainly not the worst. All my stressing over $500 is taking away from riding time!

Sounds like you've made up your mind Smile like EmptySea said, if you think it's a good price, then it's a good price.

congrats!

Truly, the price you pay won't matter in a year from now. If it's the bike you like, make your best deal and buy it.

For what it's worth, my $0.02 is $7500 OTD too. I'm with roninmo....based on all my searching ( which I spent WAY too many hours on.) and was willing to travel a ways to buy. All that said, I ended buying used (+/-3400 miles 2013 Red Rocket for $6300.) Just hoping that gives you some perspective. Good luck. Jump off the diving board, I did recently and think it's way worth it!

The price is right for the area. Here on long Island a dealer has one for 7790.00 the destination and prep fee can be negotiated. Ask them to cut fees in half. Even if you pay his full price it's still good. I paid around 8000.00 last year plus 300 in fees approx

If you really want it and they had it two years they should be willing to waive most of those fee's
