Saw the 2017 CB1100 today...

'might be but it feels smaller (less room). The seat is smaller and more stepped,
the pegs appear to be higher & slightly more back, that might be it. Little adjustments in the rider triangle can significantly impact perception on that. Sit
on a V7 vs a V7ii sometime to see what I mean. 'Hard to tell them appart really, that is untill you sit on them.....

Serious? I was hoping that they were going to be lower and more forward. Oh well, good thing I like the '14.

The more I see it, the more the '17 tank reminds me of the tank from the '94-'96 CB1000. From certain angles, and colors, it's real close:

that's just my impression of the CB vs the Brit twins redux. I'm hoping the '17 is a bit more like that as the brief seat time I had on one at the show didn't immediately give me that 'too small' feel. Then again I like the look of the new bike so maybe I was just distracted. If they want to sell well in the US, particularly to folks old enough to have fond memories of the origional, they'd do well to open up the ergo's a bit. Maybe that's part of the Euro vs North American version differences. 'Not too darn likely mind you but hey, hope springs eternal (even if my badly used knees do not).

I can understand this opinion, especially for those who are looking for more of an "authentic reproduction look" as so many CBs featured color-matched side panels. But for me, the silver side panels are part of the CB1100's unique heritage and I've come to prefer the look. I've mentioned previously that my favorite feature of the 2017 design is the look of the brushed aluminum side panel. It might not look like a lot of previous CB designs, but it is very CB1100. Good stuff.

It's interesting how polarizing the design of the tank and the side covers can be. Not surprising though as they are two of the most notable visual elements on the bike.

There was a '95 for 3500 Canadian around here for a while. I considered it, but in the end I didn't want a 22 year old bike with carbs.

I'm with you Guth, I like the contrast of the side covers on our cbs and think it's a nice differentiator between previous generations.

I really liked the side covers on the CB1100 prototype. The side covers on the 2017 model come the closest to this look. Thumbs Up
