VLJ,
If i'm not mistaken, the CB1100 2017 EX does come with heated grip. The stock heated grip is not hot enough or any other reason to replace with this one? Thanks

In the USA, the 2017 EX does not come standard with heated grips.
Elsewhere in the world, I do not know.

I have the Honda heated grips put on by the dealer in 2013. They work great and I
even have foam covers over them.

Question: Is it not true that the insulating properties of the RLETs help contain any residual heat flowing from the grips to the levers, therefore keeping the levers warmer than they would be otherwise?

Maybe if they were longer and covered the whole lever. As it is the blades still get plenty cold lol

pdedse, I had the installed grips included in the original OTD deal for the bike, and they're a small fortune. Honda charges $400 for the grips, plus a couple of hours of shop time for the install. The tech had to remove the tank and do something with the ECU module, the shop manager said. He thought it would only take an hour, so that's what he billed the shop. Instead, it took three hours. The mechanic was not happy.
marvincon, apparently these new heated grips are the third generation. The first two versions didn't get hot enough, so Honda replaced the controller and now this version is what they're shipping out.
mscb1100, never having met you, I can't say whether you'd qualify for geezer status. The guys I saw yesterday checking out the new Gold Wing definitely did. They were all well over seventy-years-old, including at least one octogenarian. One dude in a Vietnam War veteran's denim vest was debating with his buddy whether he could swing his leg over high enough to mount the bike. Another was worried that he couldn't lift the bike off the sidestand. No way he could ever get it on or off the centerstand, he said.
All these guys were drooling over the bike, and, in one case, I mean it literally.
mickey, as often as you ride, you have to get these grips on your '14 Deluxe. Besides the very high price, the only downside to them is the indicator on the grip lights up Kawi green instead of Honda red. I would have preferred red.

Got the Honda heated grips on my CB11RS , these were a extra cost add-on at purchase here in the UK. They are very toasty when on the hottest setting and when on the lowest setting (of 3) they are nicely warming for chilled ride. Love how they are compact with no bulky controller strapped to the bars like the Oxford grips.
