I think the look of the 2017EX (red) really nails it. However, if one of those 2018 CB1100Rs manages to make it to a local Honda dealership floor room I could change my mind.

So much for will power. ROFL

While I think the EX looks good in red, on the RS I prefer the gold tank.

Good one. Big Grin I'll give the RS a pass, but I definitely wouldn't mind living in BC — awesome steelhead fishing up there and the scenery looks amazing.

BC would definitely be a smart move with its beautiful landscape and fishing imperium for the most finesse fishing man ...but you would only be on the northern side of state Washington, versus present southern....
I you lived in Ontario, we both would go to Ohio and visit Ferret, only 450 miles away..
I already have his permanent address:Tongue
Mr. Mickey F
2014 CBdeLux ST- reet
Ferrettown, Ohio
sorry no ZIP
He would be very delighted to see his boss in person...meanwhile, I would sneak into his garage to confirm that his bike is cleaner than Cormanus, as he advertises....
Hope to be still alive after Ferret reads this postHuhConfused

ops, almost forgot ...they are taking down payment for RS, Ontario only, with limited space on dealer list..should I write your name down Sir ???

lol..lol..lol...

So.... Guth.... How far west would I have to ride with my 5wt strapped on my CB1100 to find a trout stream that was about as far east as you are willing to ride with your flyrod strapped to your CB1100?

Our market is so small it wouldn't make much sense to have both models here but I have been wrong before (just as my wife).

With niche bikes like the CB1100, you never can tell. For example, Canada received the 2016 CB1100 where we got nothing south of the border.

I can't stop looking at the RS, I'm going to the Honda shop later this week to see if they are getting one in. I suspect they will as they are the largest dealer on the east coast.

The only problem is I don't think I will be able to handle the extra forward lean to the bars after my latest back surgery.

I was just looking at the Aprilia Shiver 900 for my next bike - I'm getting out of the off road scene (selling my dirt bike and jeep in the spring) and that should open up some space for another street bike.

I may have to reconsider.

Big Grin While I do have a 5wt trout rod, the trout fishing isn't all that spectacular in my neck of the woods and my only focus has been steelhead for the past few years (using 6wt 12' 6", and 7wt 13' two-handed spey rods). But I like the way you think and will have to give this some thought. husky385 is a fly fisherman as well. Spey fishing can require a bit more gear, but a single-handed trout setup during the warm weather months would be much more doable by motorcycle.

Not sure where you fish locally, but keep in mind the midwest trip that I told you about recently. If I could somehow combine hanging out in Chicago, getting in some fly fishing, taking in the Springfield Mile and wrap everything up in St. Louis I'm not sure that my mental facilities would survive such exposure. But it sure would be fun to see how well I'd hold up!

I am not sure that the little trout streams in SW Wisconsin would be of your liking, but that's where I fish (when I fish, which has been several years) and they are about as far away from Chicago as Springfield is, but in the opposite direction. Salmon and Steelhead come out of Lake Michigan when the weather gets cold, but that doesn't coordinate with riding, really.

I'm not a good fisherman. I enjoy it a lot, but I rarely catch anything. You'll want to set up far away from my trout-spooking throws. LOL

I have this daydream of packing quick-dry pants, wading shoes, my rod and a small fly box (or a lanyard) on my bike and stopping streamside to fish. Minimalist flyfishing. Would be extra cool if there were two bikes streamside.
Oh... and Miles City, MT, along the Yellowstone River, is almost exactly halfway between Portland and Chicago. About 1100 miles.

Nice looking machine. 94 horsepower and only a 481 pound curb weight.

Like an SV 650 on steroids. If Suzuki made it, I'd look seriously at it, but with no Aprilia dealerships within a couple hundred miles and with the issues a buddy of mine had with his Aprilia (Tuono-electrical issues), Aprilia would be off my personal purchase list. I have considered a 2018 SV 650 though. 75 hp 432 pounds $6995
