How about a Sprint ST? After seeing paulw post about his, I did a little reading up on those and dang, they are slick. There are also many to be had for relatively cheap on cycle trader.

Yes Mickey, Frank did my DUCATI S2R 1000 seat and then my Deluxe seat, both with Supercor. They haven’t broken in fully yet, about 500 miles on S2R and 700 miles on the CB, kinda like a Corbin, takes about a 1000 miles to be fully broken in. I made a custom shipping box from a large Uhaul box. He prefers Fedex and their magic number is a total of 56 or less (length + width + height) to get the cheapest rate. You print out your return label at the same time as your shipping label and put it with your check inside the box.....had them back in less than a week!

Ferret, of course 'a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do' but your ST has become part of the forum family. Make sure you retire her gracefully or I'll have to send popgun around for a chat!

Randy...I am not familiar with the Supercor. Frank did my ST seat in 08, lowering it 1" and using what he called at the time the LD (long distance) foam. You say the new stuff is hard like a Corbin? Don't know if I like that.
Cormanus, the ST will have a lovely retirement (well except the part about being ridden only when it's nasty out lol). The benchmark for longevity used to be 100,000 miles. When I was young, the flat twin BMW would reportedly run 100,000 miles. Seemed like a far fetched thing when the Indians and Harleys my dad rode seemed to need a top end every 10,000 and a bottom end rebuild every 20,000. In my mid 20's it was reported the new " GoldWings will reportedly run 100,000 miles without needing any major service". I don't know that many people actually believed that at the time. Seemed preposterous. But in my head, THAT became "the benchmark"... and my goal for riding the ST...100,000 miles. The ST has now exceeded that, but how much further will it go without a major issue? Wish I could say. ALL I know is, now doubt is entering my mind, and I don't want to head out on a long trip, with doubt in my mind.

I just shot Frank an email about re-working my seat by making it a bit taller and using their LD (Supracor) padding. It doesn't say on his website that he will raise a seat, but I guess I'll find out later or tomorrow.

Mickey....yes feels like my Corbin until it got broken in.......Empty Sea...he reuses the stock seat cover....might not be enough extra material for what you want done....Frank works on seats during the day and answers his emails in the evening...

ferret the " ONLY " reason i gave up my beloved CB750 was this same issue. It had reached a point in years and mileage that i had doubt about taking trips with the local Vets while rotating between the 1100.
I feared a major problem requiring a case split rebuild and the 9K I got for it made the emotional loss acceptable . I do smile thinking about its new life cruising around London and know it will be cared for and may run many more years trouble free. was also as happy that it paid for my CB1100 as i was getting rid of my Bipolar Redhead 1st wife to a Navy Chief who moved her to chula vista ......

I'm not sure this adds much to the conversation, but I find it interesting that my neighbor and his riding buddy both ride Goldwings 2003 models I think, he has over 205,000 miles on his wing and his friend has over 230,000 miles. Never a major issue, just a couple switches and regular maintenance. I find that incredible.

Frank was good enough to email me this morning. He does not have the equipment to alter the seat cover so, as Desert viper stated, he can improve my seat's comfort, but cannot raise it. Ah well, the search continues. LOL |
