I've been struggling with this decision. After four (!) dealership visits for a high idle condition, the service dept finally replaced the IACV motor under warranty. While I listed the bike on Craigslist, there has been little interest.
Now, the more I ride it, the more I understand and remember why I bought it. Grass is greener? Either way, I'm stuck in the middle with you.

So, your bike is running well now? No problems? Cool, keep riding it, you may be like me, and discover the bike's qualities later. Took me about 3 years. I didn't really start to warm up to the bike until after I performed the 8K mile valve check, and realized how well-made it was.

Ulvetanna, no issues as of late with returning to the high idle condition. I plan on putting it through a short distance start-stop test and repeat it several times when I ride this Saturday. I don't expect the condition to return, but I want to make sure I get any additional work done before the warranty runs out next May.
Definitely going to keep riding it. Honda made a fantastic bike in the CB.

That's good news right there.

I took a 26 year vacation from bikes (while I raised a daughter), and then longed for my '76 KZ900, cursing myself for ever selling it. When I first saw the CB, I knew I wanted one, but had to wait until I retired, then found my DLX. Perfect blend of all that was good with my two CB 750s and my KZ. This one is definitely a keeper. BTW - I just visited a Honda shop where I'm vacationing in Florida, and I can't say there's a bike on the floor that I'd buy at even half the price! The CB1100 just does it for me!

I'll keep mine forever. I bought it with that intention and wouldn't have customized it they way I did if I though I would sell it.
For whatever reason the CB doesn't really seem like a bike I would trade in on something else. I've had lots of other bikes that I had no hesitation trading up for something "better," but with this one I've never had that urge. Though I guess I'll see how hard this holds when it comes time to pay up for the new Fireblade SP1 Next year. ..

I loved this bike at first, but after 3 years and 8000 miles later, I don't think it does it for me anymore. I really don't know why either, cause it's a fine motorcycle. Trade-in value is $3700 and retail is $4500. What a rip off for CB owners. So it looks like I'll be keeping it for now.........

Not sure I understand why those values are a "rip off for CB owners." That's what the market will bear, and it's likely to only go lower, not higher. On the other hand, I think folks are optimistic when they ask $9,000-$10,000 for their DLX.
