I just came back from OH-SToc, but my wife and I went up in her car cause my ST is well,... you know dead lol
I have ridden to OH-SToc before on my CB though. Lol
SToc season... No wonder my ranking on the mileage tracker is dropping like a stone.. No longer in the top 10 sniff sniff
The guys at the STOC events are great guys. With the dwindling number of ST's and the high mileage any bikes are now welcome and a variety usually show up.
OOPs. I didn't mean to hijack the thread to a STOC promo.

Speaking of touring. Just finished prepping bike for tomorrows 600 mile, 1-day Idaho loop ride mostly on secondary roads with little traffic. Adjusted chain (16,500 miles on the bike). Double checked oil. All good. Dropped the aftermarket adjustable foot-pegs bought off the forum from their highest to their lowest position. WOW!!! I've been riding them since putting them on in the highest, most sporting position and dropping them 3 inches makes the bike feel like a Gold Wing (hyperbole I know). Rode around the hood and what a difference. Really opened up the seating position. Put a magnetic tank bag on, charging the removable powerpack for the iPhone and put on a long RAM arm to clear the tank bag. Dropped 3 32 oz MSR bottles full of ethanol free gas in old tube socks so they don't clank around in the top box and filled the tank to the max on the center stand with same gas. I'll roll out around 7 AM and will post a trip report with pics afterwards in the seat time section. 68 years ago today US Army Medic SSgt David Bleak earned the MOH in Korea. Have tomorrow off from work so figured I'd pay my respects in person.

I am looking at a 2014 CB1100. I have four bikes at the moment. Two dual sports, Versys 650 and Harley Davidson Softail. I would like to blend the Versys and Softail into one bike. The CB1100 seems ideal. Cool looks with good handling and reliability.
I mostly use the bikes for short trips around town. I may do some light touring. But such touring would be 300 to 400 miles per day leisurely touring.
I read through this entire thread. Great information. Makes me think CB1100 would be a perfect choice for me. I really like the look. And my first bike was a 1974 CB550 Four.
But I don't like selling and my wife already does not like four bikes in the garage. Kind of thinking she will like five even less.
OTOH - I have two boys who would gladly take a bike or two off my hands..... Hmmmm......

Welcome, Sorg. You seem to have the future well planned when there are excellent deals on left over 2014 bikes to be had.

New to the forum. I am in the process of shopping for a new bike and not exactly sure what I'll land on. I currently ride a 2009 Versys 650 with bags and other farkles. Love my bike but looking to change it up. On my short list of bikes are the Versys 1000, Concours` 14 or the totally opposite end of the spectrum is the CB1100. Every time I see the cb1100 I love it. My question to those with windshields, how comfortable are you on the highway? I know the seat is nice and flat but do the available windshields provide enough comfort for 2-3ish hour stints on the highway? I don't do any crazy mile eating, so I'm thinking it might be possible to be happy with the CB1100 if I do want to load it up and go camping several hours away. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
100% you can count on it! 5,400km trans-Vietnam within 2 weeks. Gonna make a similar trip in 1 or 2 month time. 31,000km odo clock as of today.

Ok, that is the dirtiest picture of a CB1100 I have seen yet. Awesome.

No problem with a good windshield to travel longer distances on highways for hours. I always ride with a MRA one. In combination with a streched out tankbag it's even better. 120km/h also a bit more is no problem for days and hours. The handlebars are a little high, but it's the CB style and I don't change it. So the wind gets a lot of surface to blow his song on your upright riding position. A lower one would surely decrease it.

Hey, Frulk, thanks for sharing your preparations. What brand are your adjustable foot pegs? I've been searching for some and haven't found anything that looks good. How much of an adjustment do they require in the shift and rear brake levers?
