Thought I had my first problem
#1
The wife and I hoped on the bike to join a couple friends on a ride. Started it up let is run a little bit. Stuck it in gear to pull out and it shut of. Did that 3 more times until I reliazed my kickstand was down. I felt like a fool but what a relief it wasn’t something major.

I stopped for a coffee and donut 175 kilometers from home. When I went to leave my new CB1100 EX would not start. The side stand was up because I parked it on the center stand. Tried the key a couple of times. No go. Finally thought to check the on/off switch which I never use because I always use the key. But I had hung my helmet on the right hand grip when installing my ear plugs. Varoom! Blush

When I took my test drive I brought it back to the dealership, I put the kickstand down before I put it in neutral and of course the bike cut off and for a moment I'm thinking "Uh oh what the heck did I do?" Scared me for a moment but at least I learned about it quick.

When I bought my new Road Comet fairing, I decided to leave it in the box and make the short trip from the post office to my work with it cradled between my arms and the handlebars. About two minutes in the bike stalled and I embaeassinly rolled to the side of the downtown street. OMG! There couldn't be something wrong with my precious CB. Then I realized the box had bumped the kill switch. It happened twice more before I got back to work, but at least I could flick it back on without having to pull over.

I think most of us have similar stories!

You know the scene where the guy leaves the bathroom with toilet paper stuck to his shoe. Last month I left the bathroom at my office with the paper toilet seat cover hanging out the back of my pants. True story! And I didn't notice it until I got home and changed.

Well, at least it was not an electrical issue!

The kill switch got me once too. One spring years ago when I had the NT650 Hawk, I rolled the bike out and killed the battery trying to start it. The Hawk was always an instant starter and I was stunned that it wouldn't start.
I never use the kill switch so didn't think to check it. Sure enough, and too late, I noticed the switch was in the no-run position. Obviously, as I was maneuvering the bike around I pressed it on.
Once the battery was recharged...VAROOOOMMMM!!!

I had my motor cut off while doing 60. I coasted to a stop and could not see anything amiss. Kill switch was in run position but I flipped it to off and then back to run and the motor started. I had inadvertantly brushed against the kill switch with my glove. I puposely duplicated the action later with the same result.
