As it turns out, my wife's Rav4 held up a cross beam that could have damaged both bikes.
The end of the cross beam came to rest on the bar/triple tree of the CB. The big problem there is we needed to cut the cable to release the compression of one of the garage door springs. The spring was aimed directly at the tank/instrument cluster of the CB so I grabbed some blankets and my daughter's bean bag chair and we wrapped the spring with one blanket and packed the bean bag chair over the tank and then cut the spring cable. We then could removed the left garage door. We removed the windscreen on the ST (beam was directly behind the screen) and then backed the bike out. They used the back hoe bucket to lift the beam off the CB so we could back it out. They then jacked up that beam off the rav4 and then backed it out. Success! If the bikes had been parked a little more forward or backward, I think they would have been damaged. Here's some more pics. Remarkable how the most valuable stuff in your garage got out of this mess pretty much unscathed! Glad you can keep riding both bikes! And isn't it mazing how rubble always looks pretty much the same from one pile to another...?! -fritz |
