I actually got the chance to try the Combat Lite Touring Boots on this summer when Aerostich came to town with plenty of their goods for people to check out (what they call a "Pop Up Event"). I figured why not ride down to the the location they were set up in and check it out. Glad I did, because when I slid my feet into these boots I knew I had finally found what I had been looking for. So I bought a pair. I've been using them for a couple of months now and find them to be excellent. They are made of very thick leather and do take some time to start to break in. But the real payoff for me is that they fit my feet like no other boot I've ever tried on. (I had been using a pair Dainese boots which I got to fit decently by using a combination of inserts.) I believe that the buckle across the ankle contributes quite a bit to this along with the internal speed lacing system. I ended up choosing the "wedge" sole offered by Aerostich (the boots are actually made by Sidi) which looks like this: ![]() These are pricey ([url=http://www.aerostich.com/clothing/footwear/combat-touring-boots/aerostich-combat-lite-boots.html]very pricey unfortunately). But as someone who has suffered a few different foot injuries over the years, I've come to appreciate true high quality, supportive footwear that fits. For whatever reason, I'm very hard on shoes and boots. I'm not worried about these though. Fortunately, much like my riding leathers, I'm sure that these boots will just get better with time.

I still have a pair of lites. Great off-road protection, tough built boot.
Guth, It takes a while but they break-in great and last, mine are from 07. I took the laces out. Your not far from Scappoose, if fit's an issue Wesco's are made to fit. My next trip to OR I'm getting fitted for boots and a jacket. Wesco boots and a Langlitz jacket, great stuff from Oregon.

Full grain leather, Very stiff on the heel, sole and toe, very form fitted, No Giant Heel (finally!!!) and the sole is a sticky non slip rubber. Best thing is they were under $100. Rode the past two days and I love em! check these out! I went to harley, cyclegear, local honda dealer and two other boot specific stores and couldn't find anything I liked. Discovered a DSW store in Buena Park Ca and found these there. Did you stop at Portillo's for lunch while you were in Buena Park? They're a Chicago institution!

Yep, the first week they were pretty stiff, but I could tell right away that break-in was not going to be a problem. I never suffered any blisters or anything of the like. All I did was wear 'n ride in them since new and they started molding to my feet in fairly short time. I was familiar with heavy duty leather boots and the break-in period as I have a pair of heavy-duty hiking boots that took a while to break in, but have rewarded me ever since. I have a pair of work boots that were made by Wesco and are awesome — just not what I prefer to ride in. My riding leathers were made by Langlitz. Given the hand-made nature of both companies, their prices have increased dramatically since I bought my gear from them. Still cool to see stuff actually made right here locally!

Guth, I also rode in 10 hours of rain, on the highway with these! Feet kept completely dry.

I tried those on last time I was in Duluth, prefer my Sidi's to them. Good boot (not too keen on the internal lace up either) though.

Came across the Sidi Fusion Air boots http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sidi-...-air-boots a couple of years ago, and have been extremely happy with them. Comfortable and easy on and off, with the single zipper. No patience for my lace up boots any longer.

Thanks DG, I'm looking for replacements for my Tourmaster boots, these may be the ticket.

^^^^^ Been a fan of Sidi for many years. On several occasions I've ridden the bike to work and stayed in my Sidi's for more than 8 hours
walking on concrete. Feet and legs never felt tired or fatigued. The pair I have are very similar to DGShannon's. I don't see myself ever even looking at another brand of boots, they're that good. |
