Bell Bullitt Helmet
#11
Wow...that's very helpful. Thank you!

I'm sure there's probably some loss of protection (from projectiles coming in through the bigger face opening, if nothing else), but for me the extra visibility would be worth it. I've never been able to talk myself into a 3/4 helmet because of the missing chin bar. This would seem to be the best of both worlds...or at least the best compromise.

It's too bad they never seem to go on sale. I actually own 4 different RS-1s (on the theory that, when you find something that really works for you, it's a good idea to buy a few). Fortunately the RS-1 has always been easy to find on closeout, often for half price or less. I actually have one in the same design as yours...only paid $170 for it. Pretty great helmet for that price!

I also have the transition shield, and love it. Hopefully they'll eventually make one for the Bullitt. Seems like a no-brainer to me...even though they're expensive.

After our ride yesterday my wife asked, "So, how many helmets do you have?!" It turns out I have six. And, somehow, that in no way feels excessive. They're spread out in different areas of the garage. I think I'll put some shelving up next weekend and line them up. I think a dozen helmets seems like a good goal. And, at $170, another RS-1 might be the way to go!

Ha...well, it helps a lot to be single w/ no kids. Actually, I think I'm making up for all the years I (stupidly) rode without decent gear out of a misguided sense of frugality. Always wore a helmet, but usually just a normal leather jacket and jeans...and almost never gloves. I shudder to think about the condition of my hands, knees, etc. if I'd ever had a get-off. The invulnerability of youth....

That aside...if you can stand the graphics (and the remaining sizes fit you), this place has some pretty good deals on Bell helmets. I keep waiting for that Steampunk RS-1 to drop another $50 or so. I've bought from this outfit before...no issues.

Says the man with the chrome instrument cluster and matching headlight bucket.

Haha! Sorry, ferret. Couldn't resist.

MG, is it me or have you moved or deleted the photos?

EDIT: Looks like the Photobucket site may be down. That'd do it.

My internet is acting very weird too. The connection keeps going in and out. I wonder if it has anything to do with the huge storm hitting the east coast.

I don't know where photobucket is located, but storms can do that.

Then again, it could just be my ancient modem. It seems to be working at the moment and the photos are there.

I can see them now. I'd go for Photobucket being offline this morning.
