Well, well. Who here has had a three hole knee arthoscope? How long was your recovery? I ask because an MRI on my right knee has told my doctor to go in and fix a meniscus tear. May 27. My Lake Superior 1K is June 20. Will I be healed up enough? Or just load up on the pills and go? His nurse told me I *should* be good to go in three weeks.
Oh what a web we weave,,,,,

His nurse told me I *should* be good to go in three weeks. Ok I will tell you the truth. I had miniscus arthroscopic surgery last August. If you remember I was scheduled to go on our annual father son trip in Sept. They told me 4 weeks recovery which would be 2 days before our trip. I went on the trip, but I can tell you I was not recovered. Had to be gentle with that knee. It actually just started feeling like MY knee again about a month ago 9 months after the surgery. I still won't kneel on it. The surgery itself is a piece of cake. In a couple days you will be hobbling around with crutches. In a couple more days you will be hobbling around without the crutches, but the knee will be tender, won't like bending or being worked. The PT they send you too will seem like a waste of time and I actually signed off for them and quit after a couple of weeks. I was already doing more at home than they had me doing. Your body will tell you what you can comfortably do and what you can't. If it's uncomfortable you can probably do it, if it hurts then don't do it. Btw there are two kinds of surgeries, one where they have to sew up the miniscus, the other where they go in a trim off a frayed part. Do you know which one they are going to do? I had the trimmed off kind. Plus there are two thought processes as to whether have it fixed at all if it's just frayed. As long as you are not literally locking up or collapsing with it, some say just let it go.

My knee has locked up whilst sleeping 5 or 6 times since Jan 1st. It drives my wife freaking nuts. It freaks her out more than me. She is the reason I am getting it done.

If it is locking up, surgery is probably necessary. Is there a tear they are going to sew or a fray they are cutting off?

All I know at this time is, he is going in to:
fix meniscus tear remove some floating bone spurs and just clean things up in there I do have a pre op meeting Thursday maybe he will tell me more then

I have had the surgery on both knees. Left I was walking around normal in 1 week. The other was a surprise to the surgeon when he went in. Worse than MRI showed and it was 6 unplanned weeks on crutches. So no sure bet IMHO. I wish you the best.

When the US demanded passports from Canadians to enter their country, Canada eventually had to fall in line and now we have to show our passports to get back into Canada.
Border crossings are pretty painless and should only delay you a few minutes - providing you don't have to wait in line for a long time. That's where the delays come in. The actual questioning by the border guards is pretty routine. I've been back and forth many times and have never had a problem with either side. As for speed limits, there is no 55 mph speed limit on Canadian roads. However, the speed limits do vary according to the road you're on. On high speed four-lane roads the limit is generally 110 kph (69 mph). On secondary and rural roads it would be much lower depending on location, conditions, population, etc., - just like in the US. Highway signs, etc., are pretty standardized in both countries so Americans shouldn't feel out of place here - except for the metric system ![]() If the speed limit sign reads 90kph, just multiply the 9 by 6 = 54mph. After all these years the cops won't buy, "Sorry officer, I don't know the metric system and didn't know how fast I was going." But unless you're really tearing up the roads you'll probably only get a warning if the cop is in a good mood. Who they are really after are the young squids on sport bikes, so be polite and show your grey hair if you have any
