I dont mind interstates except close to big cities. I dont follow semis or pick ups with general junk in the back including ladders. I leave enough space in front of me to avoid tire shreds in the road.
My phobia is left turners. I never trust someone coming at me with their turn signal on to actually stop and not whip in front of me. I hit one in 1969 that hurt me pretty bad. I almost gave up riding afterwards. Recently a guy on the ST forum from Texas I've known for 10 years named Paul, nice guy, anyhow he flew to Cali to pick up a bike on a Fly and Ride, made it 3 miles from home when a left turner took him out. Took me awhile after hearing that not to feel weird when riding.
For me it's left turners.
Oh and heights, and bugs and snakes, slimy stuff, weird foods lol

... and dang, ... onions.
I am very patient with left turns. However, many times as a rider sitting in a heavy intersection for seemingly "hours" waiting to complete that turn - I sometimes think, " ... is this the time a running red-lighter takes me out?"

Oh yea recently red light runners scare the beejeesus out of me.

In the UK its right turners as we drive on the opposite side (the correct side)
I hit one in 1972, an ice cream van and I went through the glass and finished up inside the van unconscious for a few hours but out of hospital in a week and back on my spare bike straight away.
Like ferret I really don't trust right turners but still not sure the best action to take because if I slow down does that encourage them to turn ?
Also vehicles coming out of side roads, one came out of a side road in 1974 and I suffered a broken leg and 6 months off work.
Every time I see a vehicle waiting to come out now I get a feeling in my leg and still don't know the best action as slowing down might encourage them to pull out.
I guess once something bad has happened you never forget and similar situations cause uneasy feelings.
