Thanks, Cormanus. 28 years ago, I lived and rode a bike in a small town in upstate NY called Liberty. Deer would literally stand on the side of the rode waiting for cars/motorcycles to drive by before making that sometimes fatal plunge towards you. Not fun at all…☹

Thanks! I am merging from the Santa Monica 10 Freeway East to the 110 South Express Lane.

also, joking but not joking: what have you got against sixth gear? genuinely curious.
Thanks! GoPro sound sucks! I tried installing a “WindSlayer” which is a piece of foam that wraps around the GoPro but was still getting a bunch of wind noise. Since I’m not planning on doing much talking, I decided to go with a handheld recorder and lavalier microphone mounted close to the exhaust. I’m still tweaking the settings and it’s a little extra work having to sync the video with the audio, but overall I am much happier with this setup.
Also 6th gear cruising can get boring sometimes so need to lower the gear to raise the rpm for a more dramatic effect especially when making Youtube video.

Yes it’s the stock low beam.
Good to know about the Gopro sound. i skimped and got an 80 dollar gopro knockoff, and was initially disappointed in the wind noise, but the more people I ask, the more I realize that Gopro is basically the same way. tell me more about the lavalier microphone? is this something specifically designed to mount on the bike and record sound separately? what mounting position specifically are you using?
I understand about 6th. honest, i wasn't trying to rib you, i just love to find new ways to ride, and i don't often hear about the benefits of running in higher RPMS on this bike. you can certainly get more power out of it, but it doesn't strictly *need* it in a highway cruising situation. I may feel different when I change my exhaust to a cat-free titanium with a short can, though.

The funny thing is that the motorcycle is barely breaking a sweat. It’s super smooth and powerful across the whole spectrum of gears. Cruising in 6th gear with no cars around is my absolute favorite place to be because of that low-end note/rumble sound coming from the exhaust!
Check out these vids that helped me with setup…
This first video has good sound samples as well as details about mounting a lavalier microphone to the motorcycle. The mic I’m using is a Pro Lavalier Microphone JK MIC-J 044 purchased on Ebay for about $30. I have the mic connected to an inexpensive Tascam handheld recorder.

This second video has information about using a handheld recorder with mounting options as well as syncing your audio/video. I just wrap my recorder with foam and keep it inside the Givi rear case with the mic mounted to my pannier. Again, I’m still experimenting but hopefully this helps. Thx...
