Then and Now

I was thinking of having this as next month's photo theme (I'm picking it this time unless I'm mistaken...) but I ended up concluding that it'd be complicated and would limit responses. So, I have something easier in mind for that, but I thought that this was cool in any case. If anybody else wants to participate in this one, feel free, but it's not part of the photo challenge.

The idea is to find an old photo of a scene, and reproduce the photo at the scene location with your CB in it.

Here are a couple from my home town.

The first photo according to the internet is from 1890.



And the same location from today. The perspective isn't perfect and it could be fine-tuned, but it's close enough for me....



The town is famous for a few things, but mostly for the flooding that occurs on a regular basis. This picture was taken just after the flood of '52.

Glad I didn't repeat it then! I'll have to review it more carefully...

The latest flood here was 3 years ago, which resulted in pretty much the same pileup of cars at the end of Main Street that you see in the '52 photo.

I can't wait to see one from Manhatten, e.g. 1900 and 2020 ... and ... if some one wanted to take the challenge, take it to a higher level ...
either both photos (past and present) with cars, or with no automobiles at all.

The earlier past and present has mainly produced pictures of people with their past motocycle and (40 years later) with their CB. I think tommy's proposal (and examples) are much more intriguing. Love the two examples ...
