Oregon day trip
#1

My son was competing in a cross country meet this past Saturday so I decided to take the CB1100 for a ride down to Eugene to cheer him on. The quickest way to get there would have been by way of the interstate, but I managed to stay off of I-5 for the most part, making for a less hectic experience. I had a great time at the meet. The ride home was a bit toasty as the temperature made it into the low 90's by the time I got back on the road (it was a lot harder on the kids running that day than it was on me riding my bike).

This wasn't the most scenic of trips, so no wonderful photos to share — just one shot that I took when I stopped for gas. But the CB made for an enjoyable trip just the same (with the exception of hauling along at 75 on I-5 without a windscreen). I totaled 275 miles in all and averaged 54 miles to the gallon. Unlike many here, I have no complaints with the factory seat, in fact I actually find it rather comfy and my experience on this ride was no exception.

Guth, just curious...but you may have the only CB
with the stickers still on the tank. After all these
months of ownership...why?

I still do as well. I have never taken them off of any motorcycle I have ever owned.

I'm with you on the seat, Guth. I suppose there are more comfortable seats available, but the stock seat works fine for me. Bike's looking good.

Geez, I'm squirming on my seat, ( stock and K&H High) after about 90 minutes.

I had never bought a new motorcycle before, and this might very well be the only one. From time to time, the stickers kind of remind me of picking it up at the dealership and all of the excitement that came with that day.

A bit cheesy perhaps, but you asked. Big Grin

I have a US129 key chain for my bike key. It reminds me of my rides in the Smokies. Most of us have something attached to (or part of) our bikes that remind us of great motorcycling experiences. Yep...a bit cheesy, but cheesy is okey dokey with me. Smile

Butts are very subjective. Early on in this forum I made the comment that I thought the seat was pretty comfy. Not many agreed. Compared to my CB750, the CB11's foam seems much more firm, which (to me) is a lot more comfortable on a long ride.

I remember in the olden days bike mags used to berate the manufacturer's cruiser versions of UJMs (i.e. Custom, LTD, Special) mostly because the stylish seats were no longer wide and flat. It was pretty much a given that wide and flat was ideal for long distance comfort. The dictates of style have caused a shift away from that kind of seat over the decades.

Bike's looking good, Guth. Sounds like an OK ride to me.
