Wasn't supposed to be this way. Weather terrorist said no rain until 4 pm. When you are retired you get to choose when to ride..morning, mid day, or evening. With rain coming at 4 pm, I could get a ride in, meet my brother for lunch and a short ride after lunch, and be home nice and dry. I just got a new to me Technic 3/4 jacket in red (to sorta match the CB) in the mail yesterday and wanted to try it out. Nice coat. (that makes 8 coats hanging in the closet now lol, but it was such a bargain I couldn't pass it up)

I got to my brothers house at 11 and we headed for some fried chicken at Popeye's about 15 miles away. 3 pc spicy with a biscuit, some mac n cheese for a side and a glass of Hawaiian punch. Not very healthy but durn tasty lol.

After lunch we headed for a lake about 25 miles away we like to ride to. Part way there it started getting dark, then darker, so dark I could see my brothers headlight on the pavement ahead of his bike, and the wind picked up. Pretty soon the wind was howling (it actually blew my magnetic tank bag off and I had to go back and get it) and it started to rain

We pulled a U turn, and headed for home but the wind and heavy rain caught up with us. Dodging small limbs and clusters of leaves that were being blown from the trees we booked it as fast as the limited visibility would allow. About 10 miles up the road in the next little town, was a UDF and we dodged in there for cover.

Yep we were soaked to the bone. if you look closely at this next pic you can see the streams of water pouring out of my sleeve and the bicep air vent lol.

We stood there dripping for about 15 mins, then the rain let up some, the sky got brighter, the wind died down and we decided to continue on to home.

On the upside of being wet, cold, having to peel out of gear, that proved to be not the least bit water proof, at least we got free bike washes out of it lol

Must have been quite a storm to blow the tank bag off. The magnets on mine are so strong that I have to "peel" the magnet holding tabs away one at a time.

Wish I could get some of that rain.Undecided

Tough luck! I'm retired too and so I now pay very close attention to local weather reports before the start of each new day. It turns out the "sweet spot" for nice rides is few and far between. ;-(

Btw, what's a "UDF"???

I know right? Those magnetic tank bags are ferocious. The map pocket started flapping wildly then woosh gone off the left side bouncing down the highway. Wasn't hurt, but that thing has been up to 80 miles an hour on my naked bike for hours on end without moving. 55 mph cross wind caught it just right I guess.

Popgun... Think that one is going to be landlocked for awhile. Standing on end it would be the third tallest building in Cincinnati. Must be huge.

Yikes! That's one nasty radar shot. Unless you were moving northeast at a pretty good clip, you were in for a soaking.

BTW, there's one color worse than red on the Nexrad doppler radar. If you see purple, you'd best be aboard the ark already Tongue

Geez, you're lucky, Ferret. Whenever I ride my bike in the rain it looks filthy.
