Not a high mileage champ, but ......

My 2014 Standard turned 8500 miles today, after bombing around some of our finer 2 lane state highways. I bought this little bike in April of 2017, and frankly, didn't ride it too much until I'd installed lighter Ikon shocks and spent some time on the forks, also reducing the harshness I was experiencing. We have some wonderful roads here in NE Ohio, but some have taken a real beating over the past couple of winters.

Since that time, I've really enjoyed running our roads east and north of where I live, thru Amish country, then north into Ohio wine country. For only 88 hp, this bike puts it to the ground nicely. Aside from a bit of drive line 'clunking' on slowing down (I've learned to ride around it) all is well. She's a little bulldog in 2nd and 3rd, even when taking the revs no higher than 4500 - 5000rpm. I've found it isn't necessary to whip this bike to quickly accelerate to the speed limit and well beyond. Once in 6th, she's almost like an electric bike that barely requires downshifting. Lots of torque. My bike isn't equipped for longer distance touring, but with a few mods, would be more than capable of stringing several days in the saddle together.

A well-thought out bike. Congratulations, Honda.

Note: I still think I'll have to switch to a Corbin Gunfighter solo saddle.

Not yet. However, at my age, a bike like the CB works better for me, Though on paper the CB weighs as much or more than the Guzzi 1200 Sport, it feels lots lighter and carries its weight lower. The CB by comparison feels like I'm riding a 500.

Only downside to selling the 12S is that it is set up for touring, with HB mounts and 30 liter Juniors, Bagster tank bra and small tankbag. I also have a rear rack that I put on when traveling. However, I still have 'old faithful,' my 1991 BMW R100GS. Though a tall bike, she's narrow, and also carries weight low. Also equipped with BMW panniers and tank bag, and rear rack as part of the subframe.

I have really enjoyed my 2008 Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport over the past 9 years and 68,000 miles. But at age 76 (me), she's getting to be a bit top heavy for me. Time will tell. A really enjoyable ride on the Sport and I may decide to hang onto her for another year or so. Thanks for asking.

I had an opportunity to ride Mile High Guzzi's (of Wildguzzi) black '08 1200 Sport a few years ago and it was an incredible experience. Grunty, responsive engine and quite stable in the twisties, yet agile and very spirited. I was impressed. Haven't heard from him in a while.

After spending time on a couple of newer Guzzis the 08 Sport 1200 and 2012 Griso 8vSE, it took considerable saddle time on the CB to adapt to an engine with a totally different sound, feel, and power delivery. I finally 'got it!' Even after putting over 150k miles on twins over the past 15 years or so.

Sounds like you've had some Guzzi experience aside from Mile High's 12S. Of course, mine is also the 2v per cylinder engine. But for a big lump of a pushrod/rocker arm design, the old gal gets down the highway. By comparison, the high cam, 4v/cyl Griso was a brawler, though advertised to produce only 110hp.

I've owned two V7's -- a 2010 Cafe Classic and a 2011 Classic. Loved the bikes but decided I couldn't maintain a long-term relationship with either.

Saw a black 'n' silver V7 roll down the freeway this morning. Still a pleasure seeing other riders enjoying them. The V7 and Griso are oh so nice to see on the move.

I forgot I posted this to YouTube. In June 2010. Thought you might enjoy seeing and hearing the stock bike being ridden on a nice, very low traffic, 2 lane road, at my expense of me showing off some really sloppy riding. It's what I do!

This is in Sweet Home Ohio!
