Recently returned from out Colorado way and was somewhat puzzled that the CB seemed to be running fine but just didn't have the power or throttle response it should. I pulled over for a bit and then as I continued on the engine seemed to gradually get back to normal. Anybody have any ideas?[attachment=8685][attachment=8686] Ok, I'm new and I can't figure out why I'm not seeing the attached picture?

You'll lose some power as elevation increases, but honestly I can't tell any difference in drivability or throttle response whether I'm at 8000' or 14000'. Perhaps you got some funky gas? Or overfilled the tank?

Yes, I meant my post to be tongue in cheek as I stopped by the sign at the top of Monarch Pass in Colorado (11,312 ft.). I've never had any adverse running issues at altitude, even with carburated bikes, well, there was the time about 1978 when I tried to ride a RD400 Yamaha over that pass......I did reduce the size of the picture to accept it as I've done with other pictures I posted, but this one just doesn't seem to work. I appreciate the patience and input as I try to get involved with this forum in my retirement years. If I'm smart I'll just have one of the grandkids help me!

I would suggest that the site owner implements the following set of rules in regard to the image posting:

If the image is about a technical subject related to the motorcycle, it should be reduced to no more than 150 kb, with the long dimension of less than 1000 pixels. Such pictures will, presumably, remain on the forum server ad inifinitum as they are of lasting value to the readers, and their disappearance would probably make a post they illustrate much less useful.

The images accompanying ride reports, meets, general interest topics, etc., should also be reduced in size, perhaps not quite as strictly as those above, and should be uploaded (as Cormanus suggests above) on some external service that supports hot-linking. However, as a matter of etiquette, those should also be reduced in width to 1000 pixels or less. They will vanish from the post when the owner removes them from the image sharing service, or when that service goes out of business, or when it decides to subvert hot-linking - whichever happens first. The consequences of disappearance of the second type of images are minimal.

I once took this thing over 11,992' Loveland Pass. Even though I had the bike jetted for 8000', it wasn't a very pleasant ride. Never again (mostly because I sold the bike).

I don't remember any running or power issues on the CB while out riding with LR even on top of Mt Evans 14,130 feet but I do remember getting some terrific gas mileages like 72 mpg the one time I checked, and high 60's several times I checked.

This is not a particularly strong colour, rotor. I didn't know the heading was there until I quoted the post and saw it. Is it just my eyes?

I suspect you know a great deal more about this than I, rotor, but, for some reason, the forum software is able to control the size of photos posted externally. For that reason I've never found a reason to worry about their dimensions. It is only photos loaded directly to the site that cause that awful width problem where the image is so wide that you have to zoom in on the text to read it.
