The 2Bros doesn't have baffles; it's a basic flow-through glasspack muffler. You can order a "sound supressor tip" for it; it basically restricts or narrows the exit hole. I tried one and it sounded like crap.

I don't have the titanium, I went with the aluminium. It looked great; got several nice comments on it. However, it's off the bike for the moment. I didn't like the low-speed fueling (high-speed is fine) with it, so I put the OEM back on. I'll put the 2Bros back on when I can afford a Power Commander and dyno tune.

someone needs to post a good sound vid of both the 2 Bros Aluminum and the Yosh slip ons... I recently installed the Staintune and although it certainly looks like a million bucks (and nearly costs as much), it is fairly tame by aftermarket standards. I run 2 Bros on my dual sport and have it on two KLX110s and they all have a mean bark.

I am guessing the Staintune will probably grow on me with time, and perhaps it takes a little break-in period until it fully develops its sound.Biker

I'm still puzzled after all these years as to why the major manufacturers turn over such a big portion of potential revenue to the aftermarket. Why doesn't Honda make a "performance" exhaust option?

Oh well. Hopefully there are a fair number of sunny days left in September and October. Once November hits, the sun takes a vacation until about February here in Oregon.

I wonder why the OP had said there was a restrictor that came with it and it was too loud without it. Can you explain what symptoms you were experiencing with the fueling? Was it just popping or running rough over all. Oh and pictures would be awesome if you have any. I'm debating on the Aluminum vs Titanium right now.

The mfg are restricted by federal law to produce exhausts which meet certain noise restrictions. Aftermarket mfgs build raing exhausts for race track use only which is usually stamped on the pipe " for off road use only". Some states like California have passed or are currently passing laws that say if they catch you without the factory stamped pipe on your bike you will be prosecuted.

Authorities are wising up to aftermarket pipes so enforcement is going to be very spotty across the nation. Europe is very strict about after market products (Germany makes you get a waiver, waiver depends on money, the inspector and the quality of the bit you wish to use; a bit too much of leeway but there you go). Naturally; places with high population densities that could create a lot of calls to the mayor's office about loud bikers will be more problematic than low density areas where it may be the mayor with the loud bike.

So it is in your self interest to play nice out there so you stay off the radar. If you're off the radar WE are off the radar (we all look alike to the non-riding public) and they won't feel motivated to enforce the laws on the books. Yet. Don't give them an excuse. Smile

He might have been talking about the stock "tip" that comes with all 2Bros. It's the part you replace when you go with a sound-suppressing tip. However, that part is virtually the same diameter as the tube inside the can, so I don't consider it a restrictor myself.

The bike surged a bit and generally ran rougher at low speed than I prefer. No popping or miss, but compared to the incredibly smooth fueling with the OEM pipe it was unacceptable. Full or near-full throttle, or high RPM running was fine, there was some reversion noise on decel and most gear changes had a loud "pop." Very racy sound, actually.

No photos, but the aluminum is better match to the bike IMO because it's almost a chrome look. The titanium is lighter but it's a dull grey.

I agree, the stock map fueling is perfect and I'd hate to ruin how it runs now. But I need noises from my bikes, I think it adds to the visceral experience. I do it mainly for that and not really for the extra performance. I wonder if others' who have installed slip on have had fueling issues (Staintune, Yoshimura, etc).

I agree that the Aluminum will match the front/rear fenders and all the other polished bits on the bike. But the headers will yellow and it may stick out too much. The Titanium will blend in a little more once everything discolors. There's also other brushed aluminum pieces on the bike too so it's making the decision pretty tough.

It would be an amazing trick to take so much backpressure out of the system and NOT have to re-map the fueling. Returning to the OEM pipe after the 2Bros was a remarkable difference. There is no doubt at all that the engine spun up to redline much faster with the glasspack. It actually feels "bogged down" now with the OEM pipe back on, but I reckon I'll get used to it.

With a dyno tune and that pipe the engine ought to really kick some torque and HP; the 2 Bros dyno chart I saw that showed 10+ HP and about the same torque increase was with the stock map.

On my old Quota I bought it with a SuperTrapp. On the advise of someone who should know I installed a stock pipe. Gained 12hp over the supertrapp! By accident I had it dyno'd before and after so I was able to get the hard numbers.

In this case it just proved the supertrapp was a poor aftermarket choice for that bike but the quota was imported in such low numbers there were few choices.
