for a trip down old-school-fairing memory lane, check this out:

Thanks for the link...nice!

I did have a Windjammer on my '74 GT750 and it was brilliant; you could sit and have a smoke behind it running 70 mph.

I think I paid about $275 from a local dealer. It actually made the water-buffalo handle better as it loaded the front end just enough to overcome the too-stiff stock springs and damping, which was so common a problem on most 'big' bikes back of that era. I lived in MA then and rode all winter (bar any ice on the road) with just the 'jammer and a pair of HippoHands and a cheap snowmobile suit; all the heated gear we have now makes life so nice...Thumbs Up

Anyhow, I wish they still made them. I had considered, at various times and on various naked bikes over the last few years, finding a nice used one on Ebay and having a set of mounting brackets welded up and using one again. When I got mine I thought the mounting method of 'hose-clamps-to-the-frame' was pretty rinky-dink but the engineering behind it was very sound (and also cost-effective re manufacturing) and well thought out. I had a chance to see the aftermath of one thrown down the road at about 80mph - on a '75 Wing - and the fairing, though road-rashed severly, never budged, and actually acted like a huge frame slider and prevented a lot more damage than would've occurred without it; they were well made!

Don't blame C. Vetter for selling out when he did though...he cashed in when all that bolt-on accessory stuff was at it's height, IMO. More power to him and hope he's enjoying his retirement and keeps fiddling around with the fuel economy challenges that he's always loved.

Since it was the 70s, people probably did have a smoke while riding down the highway behind a Vetter!

Nice pic by the way!

And it may or may not have been cigarettes...

I worked in a metal shop one summer while in High School. One of the welders who rode drilled his face-screen and glued a pill bottle over the hole. He'd light up his doobie in his driveway and tuck it into the bottle to smoke on the way to work.

Thanks, but not for me! No point in having a Goldwing fairing on a naked bike.

While the new Chic Design fairing isn't my cup of tea and may not be yours, it does appear to provide more chest and arm wind protection...... AND.....it's red!

Hummm......get one for winter riding??? Big Grin

Ah I dunno.I doubt highly that the paint will even come close to that
of Honda luster red.meaning it will make the entire thing look off.
The bat faring seems noteworthy.Butt ... I dunno.
The problem with Honda accessories is that they are WAY overpriced.I remember buying the Honda windshield for my 2001 VTX 1800 a few years after purchase. It was $ 500.It was Lexan I believe and of the finest build quality with chromed inlays.
But Honda asked too much.

Is that what this CB is { naked bike }.Because I must plead ignurnce.
I've kinda gotten out of motorcycling.I used to make sure an average around 6,ooo miles a year on 2 bikes. That started to
change around 5 years ago.I think I managed around 2,ooo last year.
I'm over 60 yrs.old.When I asked about the new CB 1100 over late summer, because I had no idea'r Honda introduced it,the guys at this new to me Honda dealership kept referring to it as a STANDARD.
I said ... what.What is a Standard.I had no clue.
