Fully Adjustable Forks/ Traxxion Dynamics
#1

Traxxion Dynamics are known for their Ak-20 Cartridge kits used in AMA and WERA national racing and also known by harley & GL1800 owners. Anyway gave them a ring and asked them if they could come up with a kit for our bikes and 2 weeks later It showed up at work. I sent them my fork and basically what they did is they take out the old cartridge, springs, shims, fork Caps and replace them with the Ak-20 Cartridge kit. There are two types of ak-20 cartridge kits. Non Adjustable and fully adjustable. I have the Fully Adjustable version and all adjustments are done on top of the forks. Silver 3mm allen hex in the center of the left fork cap controls low speed compression damping. Red 3mm allen hex in the center of right fork cap controls rebound damping. The Black 10mm allen hex in the center of both fork caps controls the spring preload. This set up is taylor made for rider weight type of riding and anything you might want done specific to your needs.

my setup:
Maxima Racing Fork Oil 7wt
Oil Level=120mm
Omni Fork Spring Rate=1.0
ride height set at 10mm above the Top Triple Clamp

I had Traxxion AK 20 cartridge forks on my Yamaha FZ-1 and to tell you the truth, I am not a good enough rider to tell any difference from stock. Also have had several sets of custom shocks over the years, the last set on my 2000 Honda CB 750 Nighthawk were Progressive Suspensions, and I couldn't tell any difference from stock on those either. Updated suspension is just a waste of money on me. I wish I could tell a difference, believe me. Maybe I'm looking for something that doesn't exist in suspension. I'd like a comfy ride and boingers that absorb the bumps rather than transfer them to me.

Traxxion has got an excellent reputation though on every board I've been on.

Maybe I'm not understanding something here. The forks are independent of each other, how can you set rebound on only 1 fork and compression on the other and both have equal value?? All fully adjustable shocks i have had have these three adjustments on both shocks.

Steve on some bikes they put one in one fork leg the other in the other leg. This is not totally uncommon, but not real common either.

Just seems to me the suspension would not be working in unison. I think the proper way would be to drill a hole in the bottom of the fork if possible with an adjuster to set rebound, this way you can adjust both forks the proper way.

It's the way the manufactures set them up. To me it's like single sided swingarms, which make no sense. Logically there should be an arm on both sides for strength, and to keep things "squared up", but apparently thats not necessary.

As a unit the forks are independent. As a system, connected to the triple tree and the axle, they are not. Once all bolted up they act as a single unit.

Well saidThanks

Even on the new ohlins Cartridges on inverted forks Compression is on one leg and rebound is on another just for comparison with the traxxion dynamic kits. I do not know the benefits but I'll remember to ask the Suspension gurus as to what the differences are.

Will let everyone know how it goes once Installed.

thanks for your inputBeer

I probably wouldnt get the most performance out of these myself but I would definitley feel the benefits of being able to adjust the front to work with my rear shocks in unison. There were a couple of times I have bottomed out the front from cars cutting me off or just ugly roads where I travel and its scary Biker
