OVER swingarm
#1

Anyone have any experience with the OVER braced swingarms? I just sent a note to MrT asking about the Type 8 version. I'm trying to figure out why there are two; is there a significant difference in stiffness between the versions? Looks like the Type 8 is a bit more old-school, while the Type 10 sports a few more billet pieces....any insights would be appreciated.

This is the only thread in the archives that mentions the Over Swingarm and this member has not been online since Sept. But you might try sending him an email. Click on his user name and it should pop up.

Unless he logs on this forum, he won't see the notice for the IM and he hasn't logged on in nearly 5 months. Try an email it will go to his email in box.

Five months without logging into the forum?! The man is clearly in intensive residential treatment and doing a great job of staying clean. Why would you go and tempt him in this way? If only we all had the strength he does.

Let me go see what's new over in the seat time section ...

Mr T is way more responsive to emails through Samurider.

I believe the person in question is Jm77, the author of the link provided by the ferret, not Mr. T. But, you may be right concerning Mr. T responding better
via his website.

Edit: gossman, I take back everything I ever said about you. Except the good stuff.

I'm sure Mr T will respond; was just trying to figure out if anyone on this fine forum had had an AHA! moment regarding the existence of not one, but two braced swingarm options from a single supplier.

Takashi shows a Type 7, Type 8, Type 9 and Type 10. There are basically two styles but Type 10 and 9 have those cool looking rear brackets for sitting the bike on a stand.

Over has English language descriptions for Type 7 and 8, the two swing arms without the stand brackets:

■TYPE-7
Inside of main pipe has double bridged reinforcement. 80*40mm pipe. Provides more rigidity and supple shock absorbing ability. 3 types of chain adjusters are available at choise. Good for recent big road bikes. To use wide wheel, special order is abvailable from 15,000yen.

■TYPE-8
Type-7 WITH STABLIZER. Inside of main pipe has double bridged reinforcement. 80*40mm Provides more rigidity and supple shock absorbing ability. 3 types of chain adjusters are available at choise. Good for recent big road bikes. To use wide wheel, special order is abvailable from 15,000yen.

If I hadn't spent a couple grand on farkles on my new NC700, the type 7 swingarm would be very high on my wish list. I'd have to add brackets to mount my WM chainguard and drill and tap a hole for the rear brake line bracket.

If you contact Mr. T, ask him about the 3 different types of chain adjusters.

Shall do so.
My farkle rate has escalated beyond reason lately; just bought HyperPro reservoir shocks, LSL low bar, Guhl reflash and a Yoshimura hand bent pipe. Hoping this swingarm keeps me sated for the summer......though I'm thinking of painting the tank to emulate a 1975 CB400F in Varnish Blue....
