Chip, thanks form going to the trouble to post the results of your mod. I think it looks great! I really didn't intend to get so much cr*p started, though! I have the light ready. Now, if the '14s come out in black, I'll be ready! And if they don't, I'll be ready to paint a red one!

You didn't start any crap Buffalohead, just made an honest inquiry. Sometimes in life things go askew but usually get better in the end with the help of knowledgable and helpful guys like Chip.

Actually, I received a great answer to my inquiry and I also thought the thread was becoming more entertaining! In addition to the banter, Chips pics were great too!

I've got a couple of tail lights laying around from some old long gone projects. The set with the mini stalks and signals looks pretty similar to Mr Chips but in black. the other setup might kill two birds with taillight and plate.

I mounted this light at the end of april when I got my cb1100 but I did not like the up angle that the lens pointed when covering up the harness hole in the fender so I went back to the stock light. I have plans to mount the lucas light assembly correctly with the lens angled straight back horizontaly and cover the fender hole when I paint my ride this winter. right now , if you would like I can remount the light and shoot a couple of photo's but the lens angle will be pointing upward.. looks chopper/bobberish, no thanks.

Paul,

While it's true that the Lucas light is slightly angled upward, the stock taillight is angled upwards the same amount. Look at the photos below. I really like the shape of the stock tail light but Honda made it ENORMOUS. The thing is huge and sticks out farther back than the fender itself. The turn signals are too big too IMO and I have new replacement units to replace them as well. I tried two different Lucas lights and settled on this one. I will post a "How To" as soon as I have time. Cheers.

Hey Chip,
I was looking at the photos of your Lucas style tail light again
and I noticed the word "Honda" in white letters on the rear of
the seat is missing in the photos with the Lucas light. It's hard
to tell from the photos. Did you change the seat? Or, did you
use acetone or something to remove the lettering? Just wondering.
It looks good without.

......oh. I would not have imagined Corbin was producing seats for the CB11 yet. They certainly make a good product.

Hey Chip Beck. Your Lucas tail light replacement is really nice. I do have a couple of questions: 1) Will the light bolt on without drilling any new holes in the stock fender? 2) Do you have the part number for the J&P part?

Thanks. I am replacing my turn signals with small LED's and will post when all is done.

I believe Chip's how-to specifies that drilling the fender is required in order to mount the aftermarket tail light, however, those and the OEM mounting holes are covered by the new unit.

I know Emgo makes one amongst others...

Plus, for clean installs, one can always plug holes with rubber grommets. Looks good and facilitates going back to stock in future.
