Question about slip-on mufflers for 14 DLX owner.
#1

Ok,

I feel kinda silly asking this, but for those of us who have the dual pipes, will any aftermarket slip-on muffler fit on either side?

Is the mounting hardware compatible for left and right side?

Actually that a pretty good question, I too have a 2014 DLX, I would bet that slip on's are kind of generic at least when it comes to attachment to the frame. Some things to consider are length of muffler, will it be long enough to seal to the at the header and then will the frame mounting tabs line up?
I have been thinking about ordering two Staintune cans, but $1,600 plus shipping is holding me back. Somebody please tell me this won't work...........

It depends upon how the mounting tabs, that attach the slip on to the frame, are made. If they are permanently attached (welded) then when you try and put the unit on the opposite side of the bike, the tab will be pointing down to the ground, rather than up to the frame. You example of "two Staintune cans" would not work.

Notice the tab orientation...

There are slip on's that have bolt on brackets which could be reversed and allow it to go on the opposite side. The concern then would be any logos on the canister that would then be upside down. Also, if the canister was not a straight design, and had any angles in it designed to "bend it" toward the header outlet, you may have a problem getting it to line up on the now wrong side of the bike.

Yes, I guess ultimately it would require an email or phone call to the manufacturer to confirm compatibility.
