Looking for Inexpensive Cover (Carport Storage )
#1

Looking to buy motorcycle cover for winter. It is under the carport. Looking for something inexpensive. I never cover it during full on riding season, but in winter I am looking for something. Thoughts?

Yes, make sure it's breathable or well vented. Especially if you are near the gulf to keep humidity and condensation down. Some of our other members have covered their bikes and found rust in multiple areas when they removed it. One of the Achilles heels of the CB1100 is that they are more prone to corrosion than many other bikes. Keep it dry and well vented.

Amazon. Good stuff, reasonable. Some items require minimum $35.00 order for free shipping. That's where I got my last 2 covers and Battery Tender Jr.

Formosa Covers at Amazon
#4

Search for "Formosa Covers" at Amazon. I got one of them at a discounted price for a discontinued color combination and figured I couldn't go wrong.

Was pleasantly surprised at the nice quality for the prices and the cover has lasted (inside garage storage) through three bikes so far. I got a pretty big one since I was riding a BMW R1200RT with the big bags at the time, then used it on the CB1100 with room to spare and now still use the same cover on my Honda CTX1300 with bags.

Aloha,
Huladog

Hey Dog, hows life on the island? Do you miss the CB?

Life is good! Yep, miss the CB and selling (hopefully) the CTX, or trade-in (hope not since lower $Wink to fund another possible CB 6-speed. Wife says what I get for the CTX must fund the next bike!

Aloha,
Huladog

Good luck with the sale. Not sure how I would like a CTX but I love my ST 1300 from which it is derived.

+1 on the condensation problem. I had my CB in my carport under its normal cover for winter until I realized how much condensation it trapped under there.

I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet, but I'm thinking something like this Speedway Shelter with a stor-dry running all the time inside would be a good carport solution. It doesn't meet the inexpensive part, but I haven't been able to find a cheaper cover that actually breathes well enough to stop moisture buildup.

The Dowco is a excellent all around cover. They are having a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale right now.

Have both Dowco and Formosa. Dowco more of a dust cover, Formosa a great cover. Have them now on all our bikes plus some other stuff (outdoor furniture).

Looked at the portable garage, ordered one - cancelled order after 6 weeks waiting for it to be shipped.

Gotta get breathable, no blue tarps!
