I hit my first deer almost a year ago and I haven't been tempted to add one to my bike.

Flyn, I wouldn't add a deer to your bike. It's more likely to attract other deer than to scare them off. Tongue

Good one, Cormanus! Big Grin

Now you've got me thinking. Hmm, perhaps a mountain lion shaped fairing?

No, wait!

Used to ride my bike to work about 2pm and home about 2am,coming down the mountain came upon a whole herd milling about in the roadway, hit the binders and idled by in first gear, could have reached out and touched the closest one, they seemed unconcerned about the bike and me.I don't ride after dark anymore, too many close calls. This was about 10 years ago.If you choose to ride in the dark use high beams as much as possible, scan the sides of the road for eyeballs, they light up long before you see the actual deer,if you see one slow way down, their reaction times are not calibrated to 60 mph vehicles, they get confused,if you toot the horn half the time they stand there and watch you go by.Riding since 1972,lifetime all vehicle total almost 3 million miles, seen and avoided a lot of deer, hit one with the car 2 years ago.Odds caught up to me.Good Luck.

My father had them on his truck when he lived out in the boonies where the deer population was higher than the human. On Nantucket I will only see them at night, but in VA I saw them in the daytime as well. Ask Kenny, deer, deer, deer, deer (that was down by 4paws)

A friend in my riding group had two on his bike. They worked great. Called the deer right to the bike. Week and a half in intensive care in an induced coma, six broken ribs, punctured and collapsed lung, shattered lower left leg. Good thing was he is AGATT and did not have any head trauma or road rash.

So I guess they work until they don't.

Big fear out here in the country where I live. Deer are everywhere and are out morning, noon and night, and they are so unpredictable. Will run any direction, stop any time, and may just as well run into you as run away from you. I must say my evening rides, like last nights from 7:30-8:30 pm are the most nerve racking with the most deer sightings.
