Thanks mgoodie for replying back. The bolt you used for the hanger according to you pics is from the rear brake lines on the rear set, not the brake caliper itself and not on the swing arm. I guess you must have used a reducer supplied or maybe the stock muffler gasket stayed on the pipe and you didn't realize it. You had to of used something to take up the slack. Anyway a proper install for this really requires the fabrication of some kind of link pipe.

I got my Emgo today and uscgmac is absolutely correct! THE EMGO IS DEFINITELY NOT A BOLT ON 17" SLIP ON REVERSE CONE MUFFLER FOR A LATE MODEL HONDA CB1100! Out of the box it is NOT compatible with a stock bike.

The diameter of the inlet to Emgo is way too small to fit over the outlet IP I'm using made for a Delkevic canister (which I now have installed on my CB1100). The Emgo's inlet diameter is 1-3/4" but needs to be at least 1/8 - 3/16" bigger. The "reducers" Emgo supplies are absolutely worthless, because the inlet opening is already way to small.

What is needed to get it to fit properly is a "custom made" IP with an outlet OD of 1-5/8 to 1-11/16". Also, the Emgo should have more short length wise "cuts" at its inlet clamping position in order for the clamp to be more effective.

Probably the best solution is go to a muffler shop and see if they can fabricate an appropriate intermediate link pipe. Of course, once you do that, the cost advantage of the Emgo goes straight out the window.

With respect to OEM mid pipes, is it possible there are physical size differences between 2013 and 2014 CB1100 model years or "within" each model years. I have a 2014. I presume "uscgmac" does as well, and his mid pipes is apparently incompatible with a direct slip on connection to the Emgo, with or without omitting his existing Delkevic extender pipe. I never tried a direct connection the my mid pipe, but had the same problem using my Delkevic extender pipe (with center stand bracket). The ID of Emgo's inlet is way too small to "slip on" to the end of my extender pipe. The diameters are grossly mismatched by as much as 1/4".

I'm approximating, but what is needed is a curved extender pipe about 12" long, with an appropriate welded on center stand bracket, that goes from ~1-5/8" ID at its inlet to ~1-3/4" OD at its outlet, where the inlet end is clamped on the outside and the outlet end is clamped inside the mating Emgo slip on. I'm not expert, but the tolerance on both of these end to end diameters should be +0, -1/16" to have snug slip on connections. Such a link pipe adapter "off the shelf" probably does not exist by the CB1100.

I don't have a delkevic exhaust. As previously posted I'm currently using a Yoshi rs3 slip on. This mid pipe does not work nor does a direct connection from the emgo to the stock head pipe. Some modification needs to be done. And yes I have a 2014 standard CB1100. Dsinned, read through the entire post, I think some of the facts are getting lost in translation. Lol. My mid pipe I'm talking about is from my Yoshi slip on, nothing else.
The OP, mgoodie also had a 2014 and for some reason I'm getting a feeling either he did something different than he explained or his install was not correct. His post and the facts of how this installs do not line up. Maybe he thinks it was a proper install when it really wasn't. Judging by how he stated he attached the hanger to the brake caliper on the swing are leads me to believe maybe he's not really sure what he did. Just saying.

uscgmac, there is one other member here (gcarper) who did a successful Shorty Emgo install, but I don't know what link pipe he used. In his review he emphasized that the install was NOT as straight forward as a slip on specifically designed for the CB1100 and that some modifications may be required. I believe he had a custom link pipe fabricated by a muffler shop for his bike. I've seen his Youtube video and the final installation looks quite good on a CB1100, so he must know the "right way" to do it.

I would like to get to the bottom of this fitment mystery, so my Emgo doesn't turn into a waste of money.

His install was explained very well. He used the delkevic link pipe but had it welded to the voodoo muffler I believe. If you can find the right spacer and use a decent clamp then direct fit could work or you have to have a link pipe fabricated. I'm waiting to see if the stock muffler gasket I ordered will to the trick or not.
I got into this knowing it would be somewhat experimental. I went with mgoodies words of its a direct bolt on which is apparently wrong. Oh well. If it does not work out then I still have my Yoshi rs3 which in itself is an awesome muffler. I really like the looks and sound of the emgo but the yoshi is high quality, good sound and looks good enough. I won't be overly dissapointed.

Uscgmac, Did you get the stock gasket to try out yet? If so, what's the verdict?

I checked with my local auto supply store (O'Reilly's) and found that they stock various sizes of muffler pipe adapters. They are actually referred to as "reducers" These are made by Walker and Nickson. Something like this in appropriate end to end diameters, cut to length, might work. Ideally, one of these can interconnect between your mid pipe and the Emgo on the "inside" of each pipe so that only the clamps are visible.

I received the gasket today. I will try it out in the next few days and report back.

I didn't use the gasket, I ordered the wrong one by accident but did get the muffler installed today. See my new thread with pics and video

I know my install was not a correct install, but I also know that all I did was remove the stock muffler and put the Emgo on, I found the only bolt the supplied hangar would reach and attached it there. And I removed the center stand. Thats all I did, the only thing I can think is that maybe you got a different Emgo muffler than I did or they changed the inlet size. I did buy mine almost 2 years ago.
