Hey CIP, what a day you've had. Congratulations!

Thinking of doing this myself and trying to follow along with your posts. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think earlier today you ran with the air intake wide open and didn't notice any difference. Then you ordered the full yoshi and MacGyvered your intake.

Is it safe to guess that your existing exhaust has some sort of object stuck in its throat and you're anticipating once that is rectified the snorkel will in fact be a factor?

btw: I emailed Don G today just to say I was seriously considering him and that he was creating quite a stir over here.

Actually, I'm with Tortuga on this one. I think the question was, "what is this for?" - which went unanswered. I was also confused.

IIRC there is some fitting or plate or something that goes over the air intake that CIP removed and sealed a gap or whatever with the tape he mentions. No purpose for the mod is directly stated, no before pic is offered, no description or pic of the tape package is given.

Now is the part where I go put my flame retardant suit on.

When i decided to go with a full exhaust i figured i would do the air intake mod. While i had the air box open i decided to run her with in open air box for a short run just to see how she was breathing.

The airbox mod is to get as much air as possible so fuel can be added. Not sure how much it really helps but don't want to leave anything out before the dyno run. Whats stuck in the exhaust throat is the converter ( lol ) a full exhaust should really help the motor breath.

All this stuff confuses me, because I'm one to leave things the way the engineers designed them, but even to me I think its pretty clear that he took the air box cover off and devised a way with this step stuff to hold the air filter in place, allowing more air in which can be used by the air injection or ECU or whatever to produce more power.

My apologizes for thinking everyone should know what an air box mod in tales. You take the cover off the air box omit it and run with just the air cleaner showing to let more air into the motor. When you do this the air cleaner need support so it does not fall out. There is a company in Japan that makes a cover for this purpose but it cost 100 bucks. Not to have to wait i created my own air box mod which is shown in post 1. which actual works real well. This should address all your question.

This the fancy-schmancy part cip57 replaced. He's created his own high-flow air intake system using only the materials available to the crew on board Apollo 13.

Seriously, these are designed for the top of a helmet. Besides looking really cool, they emit an ultrasonic sound that drives dogs crazy.

CIP. I did not understand untill you explained. Neat idea. Your running without you cover on air box letting that baby breath!! Looks like that tape sealed good ! Kinda like running a single pod !! Watch out for me I'm sending my ECM to Don tomorrow overnite and he sending back overnite! I can't let you hold the record for the fastest cb1100 more than a few days !! Lol. But you will still have the fastest 13 me the fastest 14. I bet ole MR FERRET will be sooo jealous! Lol
