Nicer than expected!
#41

Mine arrived from Cycles R Us, Chippewa Lake, OH in good shape. Box intact, found the wind screen and fairing wrapped separately in plastic bags and bubble wrap along with the small bag of black screws.

Figured I would give them a shout out since they shipped fast and free, got me the right stuff, at a good price for me to be sent to Honolulu. They're eBay seller "cyclesrus-greatparts" since some of you have had less than satisfactory ordering experiences recently.

I had a red color matched Road Comet on my '13 CB11 and I must say the Emgo fairing is a lot better than I expected for about $55.00 versus the $350 - 400 the Road Comet costed/must cost now.

I'm going to install on my '14 CB11 standard so it's already color matched with a nicely applied black paint, but I will take the time to spray the unfinished interior since the plastic (ABS?) is a lighter color with some overspray from the exterior.

The small screws to mount the wind screen are more robust than the little screws on the Road Comet which also had those tiny nylon washers which were so easy to lose.

Aloha!

I hate to report this, but after taking a 300 mile ride a couple days ago, I may have found a flaw in the design of the Emgo. As I reported in one of my early posts the wind hits me about shoulder high. Well it seems every darn bug hits me squarely in the face shield.

Maybe if I tilt it forward a bit they will hit higher up. As it is now after a couple hours you have to stop to clean the bugs off or your vision is very limited. I'd love to be able to find a replacement windscreen for it with a lip on the top.

Laminar Lip Combo?
#43

I was thinking if the stock screen doesn't flow well (as you've found out with the bug-splat-test) I was going to add one of the generic application versions of the Laminar Lip to move the flow up.

Or, like I used on my CTX1300 stock screen one of the X-creen add-ons from MRA? Those type of deflectors that allow some airflow beneath them along with a deflected airflow above them seem to work better than their small size would indicate, that "laminar flow" stuff must be working.

Laminar Lip might fit better since they have one that's curved to fit "sport bike" type wind screens.

Aloha,
Huladog

Those of us without fairings have to do the mandatory bug wipe at every fuel stop. It's OK and we seem to avoid the grief you guys have getting them right.

I have zero issues with mine. Cafe fairings aren't meant to block wind over the head. They are for tucked position aero. Also: bugs schmugs. That's what my bubble shield is for.

I keep a spritzer bottle of water and a microfiber rag in my tank bag. Seems every time I stop I have to spritz and wipe the ones that inevitably hit eye level dead center, with or without windshield. I don't even take the helmet off to do this lol.

Check out the nuts, bolts, and fasteners at your local Ace Hardware for the missing screws. Mine has an amazing assortment of speciality, nylon, and SS fasteners for pennies each.

Like the fairing, too bad I spent big bucks on a color matched one days after getting my CB. Not going to spend even more $ now.

I bought a large box of Bausch & Lomb packaged towelettes made for cleaning safety glasses, keep a few in the pockets of every jacket so I can clean my shield when I stop for a sip of gas and a bottle of water.

Lol...

The whole reason I use a small fairing is to deflect just enough rain so that the spray off doesn't hit me in the chest and eventually dribble down to my crotch.. Decent rain gear will keep you dry, but it doesn't stop gravity and the ability of water to puddle up when it doesn't have anywhere to go..

I really don't care about the bugs...

Huh. All the cool kids are getting Emgos lately. I'm starting to wonder if I should I trade in my tied-and-trusty Road Comet, so that I can play, too!?!

I can see Mr T sitting in his office speaking incantations to a wax effigy. "Papa Weeley, Papa Weeley," he croons as the dollar bills flow effortlessly from the effigy's pockets.
