Emgo fairing
#1

I bought one last winter and finally got around to attempting to put it on. I trimmed the two sides to allow for the turn signals and trimmed where it came into contact with the horns. I made a bracket to bolt it on the the horn attaching nut.

It fits really good now, the only problem I have is the headlight bucket attaching screws. They are not long enough. They are shoulder type screws with about 3/8" shoulder at the head to shim the larger bucket hole.

I need a couple with the shoulder portion being about double the length and the threaded portion another 1/2" longer, (I think). I'm having trouble finding them.

Has anyone put a Emgo fairing on their CB? If so where did you find the longer headlight bucket screws. I believe the Comet fairings come with the longer screws. For the guys that put on Comet fairings, approximately how much longer were the replacement screws than the stock Honda screws?

Thanks for any info you can provide.Thumbs Up

So after posting the above post, I searched again for EMGO posts and came across one that the member had used his stock headlight bucket screws. I tried his method and it worked out great. It mounted up really sturdy, with the bottom bracket I made. I put a couple small rubber strips where the fairing comes into contact with the speedometer and tach. Tested it out this morning and it's real nice. No noises or vibration.

Blocks a lot of wind off your torso and chest. The wind hits me about shoulder high. I was able to leave the mounting brackets from my winter shield on, so I can change them out easily for colder weather.

It really makes the bike track better in windy conditions. The wind blew the bike around a bit with the bigger NC shield on.

I think I paid 58 dollars for the EMGO fairing, I had all the stuff to mount it up securely so it turned out to be quite the bargain.

I'll post a couple pics later.

Capttwb136 - I used my original headlight screws. Didn't notice an issue during installation. The fairing hasn't fallen off over the last year it's been installed. FYI.

Thanks Marty. Yeah that is what I wound up doing. I had to grind the fairing holes a little bigger so the screws would fit through. Worked great.
Anybody that would like to get one for their CB1100, they are on ebay for 59 dollars with free shipping. They are fairly easy to install. All you need is a dremel tool to grind a little off to clear the turn signal stalks and a little off the bottom where it contacts the horns. To make it really sturdy you need to make a bracket to attach it to the horn mounting bolt. I'd be glad to send anyone step by step directions. I'm really impressed with how mine fits and how sturdy it is on the bike. I don't think you can buy a fly screen that cheap.

Great looking fairing, really complements the lines of that black bike - glad you could get it to work. Nice looking bike, too! Thumbs Up

When using the original headlight bolts, did you put spacers between the headlight brackets and the fairing or bow the fairing in so that the bolts would reach? Or neither? Mine has about a quarter inch between the fairing and the headlight bracket on each side.
I didn't add a bottom brace, but the side bolts seem to hold it firmly enough so as not to rotate at high speed. May add one later.
Thanks for the writeup. I need to be better about sharing Shy
