CIP will keep us posted on his 13 model also. He is the one that told us about Don first! And CIP has had his done a little longer than me but between me & CIP we should be able to report the good and if any bad about the flash and also 13 & 14 models just call us the guinea pigs lol. But at the moment I don't think we mind Smile if anyone lives around Don we need them to stop by with their bike for dyno results

Hey guys, has there been any update on the 13. I just found and read through this thread. I'm interested in giving mine a little more.

I rode my sons '14 DLX with its newly re flashed ECU today. Almost 180 miles. Riding out of town, my initial impressions were that the bike still ran like a watch, smooth. Still nice at low speeds, no change. As the roads opened up and I accelerated a little harder through the gears, I noticed the motor seemed to pull a little stronger as rpm's approached 3k. I had 2 other riders along with me. Pat on a Gold Wing and Lee on an RC51. Both accomplished riders, trophy winning racers. Good company. When Don had called to discuss the state of tune Eric desired, we told him we were leaving the bike completely stock other than the ecu mod. We asked that the revs be raised 500 rpm's, the speed limiter removed and told Don we'd leave the ignition and fuel maps up to him to decide what was best. We ride rather briskly normally, with a group of maybe 10 others, all good riders. We also do several group trips each year, from Florida to the Blue Ridge and back, sometimes hitting Tennesee and Kentucky. Once in a while we head over to Alabama and visit the Barber Motorsports Park. Usually 2200 to 2500 miles, that doesn't include any interstates.
So, back to the CB. It pulled strong and smooth with a hard hit that came on at about 7k and ran through 9k. Maybe more, but that's where I shifted. It was fun running through the gears. The power was crisp and sharp, no glitches, no stutter, just smooth strong power.
But the best part was yet to come. A top end run! The speedo goes numerically to 120 and the distance to the actual peg is spaced at what appears to be about the equivalent of another 10 mph or so. I brought my buds along so if the CB exceeded 130, they could pace me and we'd we able to see what kind of velocity we were actually achieving. Everyone says the CB is limited to 112, but Eric's always started cutting out at 108, though it did show 112 once, when I was riding it - topped out at 108 - and my good buddy Andy came whooshing by me at some ungodly speed on his new flashy fast BMW. The next thing I knew I was sucked into his wake, the speedo showing 112 and the speed limiter making the motor stutter like Bugs Bunny!
But, I digress. There's a road near where Joe Gresh lives in Astor that we use for top end runs and we were headed there. Through Altoona, past Alexander Springs, over the bridge and into the sweeper before the straightaway. Up front, I tucked in and ran her up through 3rd and shifted to 4th. I watched the speedo rise, 110, 115, 120, still pulling strong through what should have been 125, then the needle hitting the peg at the equivalent of 130. Still pulling, still tucked and the tach needle entering the 9k rpm area. I could hear the wonderful exhaust note of the RC51 coming up behind. Suddenly it burst past. The CB was showing over 9.5k rpm's and the end of the road was coming up fast. So I let off and started hauling her down. A few miles east on SR40, at the Saint Johns river, we pulled into the parking lot of the Blackwater Inn for lunch. Once we got settled in, we talked about the run. Pat had hung with me 'til the Wing topped out at 132, the CB still pulling away. Lee had seen in the neighborhood of 138 before he got bored and blew by me. Evidently an indicated 138 was max for that run, given the distance traveled. Pretty impressive I thought. No shakes, no wobbles, no weaves, just steady and stable. Most impressive to me was - I never got out of 4th gear. Eventually we'll get to experience what the re flashed CB will do in 5th and 6th!

Sounds nice. Had mine flashed by Don same as you. I hit 134mph in 4th gear had to shutdown due to traffic. And your mpgs will go way up with normal diving!! Don is the Wiz kid of ECU Smile

Geezalou that's fast. I personally will never see the 108.... But I also personally can't understand why Honda let the bike out restricted at all? Good to hear it has all the same qualities it had before the flash, plus some extra giddyup. Sounds like the reflash delivered the all the performance you were seeking. Also sounds like a pretty good deal for those who like to blow the cobwebs out (on a closed course of course)

Eric is very satisfied, and I agree with the Ferret. It seems almost like there's another motor in there that should be set free! I think the reflash is the best investment one can make Wink

The CB is very stable at speed, it just takes a lot of road to get there. Going through the 130's takes some time. With stock gearing its a slow process, with the 19-38 gears I shift out of third at 125mph and fourth pulls pretty strong up to 142 (GPS corrected) I hit a stone wall there (she's tapped out) with the speedo buried at 140 for a while. I think if i hit fifth i might go backwardsSmile There is about a 5mph correction between the speedo and gps.

I also have a extra 500rpm's on top which will read 9500 instead of 9000 off by 500.

On the dyno my fourth gear tops out at 155 but the bike cannot push enough air to get there. Not to shabby for an 87HP bike.
