Red and Black
Hi
I have a stock 2013 and I am considering some mods and I wonder if someone has done what I am thinking.
Basically I am thinking of leaving the tank red and blacking out much of the silver.
- gators on the forks
- black front fender
- rear fender eliminator with smaller Lucas style taillight
- blacking out the "garnish" grab rails under the seat.
- blacking out the "holder step", the silver bit that the pegs mount to.
If anyone has some photos of this I would love to see them.
thanks
HW

RE: Red and Black
I remember some discussions around blacking out the pilion footrest support in the past (perhaps The ferret remembers the details as I believe he was involved in these discussions). Some have definitely blacked out the grab rails. I also know that some have painted their silver side panels black or purchased black OEM side panels and posted photos this setup here on the forum (I myself am very fond of this look as I think that the combination of the black side panels, red tank, and chrome fenders look great with the black engine and the black with polished alloy rims featured on the wheels of the 2013 models sold here in North America.)
Photos of any of these might no longer be available for viewing thanks to Photobucket (or Photosuckit as some have surely come to know them). But there are plug-ins available for some browsers to get around this so that you can see the older photos. Beyond that many have installed all black exhausts over the years as well as black gators. I'm not sure how many, if any, have installed all of these things on a 2013 model bike. But you shouldn't let that stop you if your vision of the bike calls for such a treatment. Good luck!

RE: Red and Black
Back in the day I had removed the rear fender on my bike for some reason I can no longer remember. I do remember thinking it looked cool without fender, and took it for a short spin that way. It had rained earlier in the day, so the streets were damp, but not wet, or with any standing water. When I got back from the ride, even though the streets were just damp, I had a wet "racing stripe" up the center of my jacket, from waist to collar. You should definitely do what suits you because it is your bike, just be aware that without the fender that could happen.

RE: Red and Black
YOu can put strips of electrical tape over the metal bits to see what it would look like painted
