Geico Roadside Service Doesnt Include.......
#11
I have that AAA w/RV too. I had to get it a few years ago when I found out that without it they wouldn’t help with a bike. No, I wasn’t in trouble, just inquiring about it.

This is a good idea. It's $37 on top of their other membership, though. I have AAA on the cars since they're pretty much everywhere. (Honda includes roadside assistance in the price of their cars but I have also heard you're in for a wait if you use it.)

But $37 is enough for me to go check what's included in my motorcycle insurance policy - and found that fuel is, in fact included in the $8 a year roadside assistance.

Your insurance policy includes roadside assistance for $8 a year? I'm amazed by that. One service call and they've lost 15 years' worth of $8 premiums. Who's the underwriter?

Nationwide. The premium is a bit higher than average, though. But I’ve been happy on the claims and service side.

That reminds me of my experience with AMA in January. I came out to a dead battery after stopping for a cup of coffee. AMA customer service said that they couldn't provide a jump start, but could tow my bike to a shop. I was upset, and refused service, but after venting to some friends, they said "Ya know, when the tow truck showed up, he would probably just jump start your bike to save the trouble of towing it."

Probably true, but I was determined not to renew my AMA membership over it. Turns out, with my membership expiring this month, I'm not renewing it mainly because I am not riding very much due to the virus, and it's an expense I'd need to defer anyway.

I'm no fan of GEICO either and there are reasons why they can offer low rates. But a contract's a contract. Do I read all my insurance endorsements? Sometimes, but usually not. But if I didn't and something's not covered, well shame on me.

What's totally amazing is that the CSR you berated then went the extra mile and helped you out to find a clause that could help you in your situation. Then you come here and trash the company anyway.

And that's the lesson here: If you're really stuck and call for help and get an initial "no", maybe persisting very nicely will get a better result.

LOL thanks for being nice! Let me just say that without a little extra convincing that Customer service rep would've left me on the road and moved on to the next call. Running out of gas is probably in the top 3 reasons of why people call for roadside service......and if I'm not mistaken they used to provide it. The main purpose of my post was not to trash the company but to enlighten others who may have their coverage with Geico and if not using Geico to create an awareness to check the services of their providers and not find out the hard way like I did. By the way that CSR got an excellent review from me on a followup survey.
