Attaching led strip light to running light?

I have 2 short 6 led light strips, each with 2 small wires, one red and one black.

Question, is, is it ok / possible to attach these to my front turn / running lights?

However I only want to attach them to the running light only, not the turn signal.

Do I need anything special? Plead advise!

The short answer is no. A longer answer will have to wait until I can get on a real keyboard. The better way is to use the accessory connector in the headlight shell. It has 12v when the ignition is on.

Thank you! Not sure what that looks like, will have to get a service manual that has a wiring diagram. but thanks, that was an angle I was not thinking about.

If I recall correctly, the accessory connector is red.

The reason for not connecting to running lights is that Honda uses a single element bulb with lowered voltage as a running light and full voltage when it flashes for a turn.

I put some of those strip lights on my bike, but I tapped straight into the headlight circuit at the fuse box with on of these:

Super easy way to tap the fuse box, but then the fuse box cover doesn't fit right anymore. I mounted the strip lights under the frame and they light up whenever the ignition is switched on.

Like Sportsterdoc says, the accessory connector is red and is capped. Just for info, there is another one under the tool tray in a boot on the left side of the bike. Removal of the left side panel helps with accessing it.

Anyway, remove the headlight, looking into the shell, the connector is on the left towards the bottom. It may be taped and is a 2 pin connector.

One wire is green and is ground. The other is 12v when ignition is on. But you should verify with a meter in case of a factory wiring error.

Unless you have a connector shell, pins, and the proper crimp tool for Hitachi connectors, you will have to either tap the wires or cut off the connector and butt splice (or solder if you know how) the connections. Know that there are no known accessories that plug into the accessory connectors. Except for the various add ons that members have come up with, like your LEDs, USB charging ports, etc.
