Sliders or Guards? pros and cons?

sometimes i wonder if having engine guards , crash bars , top of the line helmets and the best of protective gear has anything to do with their frequency of use ?

guards are better for tip over. sliders are better for moving falls. However, if you fall and are sliding and the slider hits something solid... bad news. the only real protection for moving crashes is a crash cage like stunt guys use. but they look like poo.

I have a H&B cage-like guard on my CB750. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it looks like it would do pretty good in a slide. Fortunately, I've never had to test it out.

since I started this thread, I guess i'll cap it off with what i finally, after many long weeks of research, settled on buying:

K-Factory Rear shock and front fork sliders, R&G bar end sliders, and Babyface Frame Sliders. I went with the full package. My thinking is if i'm gonna go down it's going to be a moving slide, not a tipover. and if i'm going to slide i might as well protect all available points. Even all these sliders combined still weigh less than any crash bar set as well, and they're also much less obtrusive to my eye. I would have also got the K-Factory engine slider, but it bolts only to the engine mount, and research indicates I should stick with something that has more than one bolt point on the frame.

Anybody with anything negative to say about these selections?

i've been there actually, the only upside at the time was that I had big leather saddlebags, which really saved me and the bike a lot of injury. however, no saddlebags on the CB11! got to make improvements.

Questions for those who opted for the SW-Motechs as I do like the black and as an additional mount for lights. Did yours come with a rubber pad to fit between the lower clamp and frame? Where did you find the best price recently? Thank you.

I went with the black guards from SW-Motech. I purchased them on Amazon and they arrived very well packed and did include two thick hard plastic bands that fit under the lower u-bolt to protect the paint. They installed easily one side at a time and the included two longer bolts were used to gain enough thread protrusion at the aft triangle mounting point. Thanks for the info and links.
