First I’d try the blue. The white goes to the -
If you don’t get anything, I can put an o-scope on it and see what the pulses look like (yes Max, I bought one just for this stuff).

THIS—I would also suggest that the meter be connected to both wires. Not ground and one wire.

On outboards, when looking at the triggers you have to use a DVA adapter (direct volt amps) that plug into a Fluke DVOM. It actually just a little integrater circuit, a cap, a diode and a resister). The cap has a SLOW discharge time through the resistor so the pulse voltage will charge up the cap as the pulses come in directly to it, and give a voltage reading. Might need something like that on this. So, TLDR, cap has a fast charge time, slow discharge time. Thus, a voltage builds up that the meter displays. RC time and all Wink

Put my meter on it, dcv setting, other lead grounded to a screw. Started bike on center stand and put it in first. No reading.

Thoughts?

Many people are braver than me when it comes to electrical work. I'm much better at being a plumber. Big Grin

Cormanus, New meter is funny.

Since neither wire is connected to chassis ground, the fact that he got no reading is not unexpected.

+1...unless he has a magic screw...lol...
Hey, this is not meant to insult anybody...we need to joke around and laugh as we get bit olderTongue

P.S. Popgan and I have a DVON with a twin propeller...if meter stars overheating, a temperature sensor triggers one or both fans...one cools off the meter itself, while the other the overheated circuit...but not everyone can have this meter TongueTongue, right Popgan

Josh i like the enthusiasm, well done and welcome to the world of electrical signals.

sorry, my story picked the wrong wire, have to learn to read before posting too quick.Confused

Max, no way was I going into all that. Josh is getting deep into experimenting here. Maybe it uses Manchester II Bi-phase. I doubt it, I just like saying Manchester II Bi-phase. And Mil-std 1553... or wait, maybe Non Return to Zero. Naaa.

Peter, I don’t have one of those! Need one! Smile Of course, real old time techs like the Simpson 260. No, not the new ones with plastic cases—the old ones in Bakelite cases. Love those things. DVOM just have a so much highter impedance they are much better for most things. I have a few Flukes I use at home. And Flukes at work.

General info::

WSS is active IC hall type sensor and good at temperature and noise characteristic. Digital waveform is produced as tone wheel rotate according as hall sensor principal. Frequency of waveform is change in proportion to rotation of tone wheel and ECU calculate vehicle speed by this frequency
The ECU monitors WSS circuit continuously. Hi - Low voltage = 1.05 - 0.525 V
A direct current is supplied to the WSS by a power source in the input amplifier of the control unit.
In order to protect WSS when measuring output voltage a resistor must be used...(75 Ohms ???? if I am correct)
Do you really think that regular voltmeter will be useful????

Agree with Popgun, Max and SportsterDoc, Josh, stop experimenting = I am deadly serious. I don't even know if you should follow installation instruction of the electronic gizmo you bought. I really don't = have no judgement.

I don’t really understand the need for a 75ohm resister when even a cheap Fluke DVOM has a greater than 10Mohm imput impedance.

No problem with Fluke, you are right Popgun Smile..just do not know what Josh is using..and my info was general

Where to tap speed sensor signal?

Huh?

I’m going to need to post my greek picture again. [Image: e0766f28eac44c3774c664394b20bc2c.png]

Read post #44 above for what I am trying to do.

Seems a lot of other brand and models of bikes are using the analog input for the gear setting.

Everything I have read said I should be looking for a 0-5v.

So as you guys mentioned above I tapped the green/pink with the red lead, black to a chassis frame screw for ground, dcv setting since I am on a vehicle and not in my house 120v ac.

Yea- I have no idea. What am I missing? Please reference post 44 above. I’m going to bed. Will check back tomorrow. Thanks!!
