'80's style appropriate front fender ideas
#1

howdy folks, I'm back at it again with the '80's flair. This time it's time to swap that big chrome front fender for something more period appropriate. The original in question looks like this (marked #5 on the picture, far right):

the shape is unique, but i'm fairly certain that the original will not bolt into place on my '14 CB1100. So, does anybody have any suggestions? nothing on Samurider or Webike seems to quite correctly resemble the fender in question, except perhaps the MIZ fender, but even that isn't really close enough to wow me. Does anybody have any experience with getting a body part like this made by a shop? What's the right way to go?

Thanks! Beer

edit:

This is the MIZ fender for reference

You might take a look at the front fender of the 1983 CB1100F. It was contoured to fit an 18" front tire, so will look better that the CB750/900F versions.

It would be so much easier to make a couple interim brackets/plates rather than making a fender from scratch. They had a riveted-in bracket that looped over the tire. You could have such a looped plate made to line up with the new forks.

genius. much simpler idea, thanks. i hadn't thought of having an adaptor made. i'll inquire with a couple of local shops. if it costs less than buying the miz fender to have the bracket made and buy the oem fender, i'll do it.

The early CBX's had a nice fender and the bracket was under neat the fender , they were for 19 inch front wheels but would not look bad with an 18 inch wheel.

Be careful, some Nighthawk 650's had 16" wheels if I'm not mistaken

'83 Nighthawks were 19" front. That looks like an aftermarket Lester wheel on your buddy's bike, and they were all 19"ers.

those nighthawk fenders are pretty close, in that they have the "fin" but they lack the signature "bridge" shapes along the sides. that and there's still the issue of mounting to contend with.
