The options for more seat height?
#1

Greetings... Let me make my first post about increasing the size of the cockpit so I'm more comfortable riding. I have too much knee bend on my stock EX and found some relief from an Air Hawk(?) seat pad as a test of how high I'd like a permanent seat. I think I'd love to find another 1.5+ inches so I'm curious about what the set of choice is. I've added foam to dirt bike seats before for height and... works good/looks only fair. Don't think I want to permanently wreck the stock seat in case I sell. I suppose there's the possibility of building up foam on the stock seat and putting a new cover over that. Or adding an "elevating seat cover" if such things exist. I'll attack peg height by making a bracket to lower and move the peg position forward a bit, and make or buy risers and move-rear adapters for the bars.

But for the seat.. I can't be the first guy to need to think about this so let me ask... Did anyone ever assemble the alternatives and ponder which was best and storm forward? Thanks for any help on this you can provide. Ride safe.

CM

G’day, Cone Man. Welcome to the forum. I hope there’s a thriving community of CB owners in Greenland.

I’m an Air Hawk user, mostly because I’m cheap, but also because I’ve got short legs. There are plenty of seat options, I think. Corbin, K&H to name two.

Welcome Cone Man!

Here is an example of the K&H Hi seat. They have a few different models too: https://www.samurider.com/?p=22627/#itemImage

Some members have also put some adjustable lower pegs on too. Can’t remember the brands right off hand, but someone will chime in.

I’m an Air Hawk user too. They are for comfort though. If you are using it right it will not raise your seat height very much at all.

Welcome to the Forum Cone! There are not many from Greenland at the Forum - I don't believe.

I have used this successfully on the CB:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-m...tm_term=#/

It does raise my arse if enough pressure is used. They provide a hand pump.

Also, when not elsewhere (Greenland?), you will be here.

Hello Howdy and welcome to the forum. I believe you're our first forum member from Greenland. Cormanus true?

Thank you and everyone very much for the warm and sincere welcome and great replies! I love that phase when I meet new people and they haven't yet figured out what a horrible human being I am! The salad days....

That seat really just looks like it belongs on the CB though it doesn't list compatibility with the 2017 model and it's been a year since someone asked that in a comment without being answered, at least publicly. Couldn't commit an order to that yet. That option will get me 0.9 inches and maybe a bit more effectively by buying firmer foam... just a fantastic start. Wish I could just find the seat base and make my own.. the first would SUCK infinitely more than our language would facilitate adequate mocking... the upgrade then would only suck... then... fair... but eventually, Honda would sue for for trade dress infringementSmile Victory! I must have done 5 generations of seat work on my dirt bike. I'll email the K&H guys and see if they can do the 2017 and a little more height as long as they're messing with the foam, but, as I type that I realize... they get their bases someplace too... I hate when my subconscious assumes I'm going to live forever.

I am on the fence about doing the peg adapters myself (have a decent machine shop). I'm sure I can do them for only about $100-200 more than if I just buy them but the feeling of smug superiority when I forget that little detail will make it worth it. Theoretically. What I'm not crazy about is aluminum in the system of stuff that keeps my pegs on should I revert to my super amazing JN-something dirt bike skills (cough) to deal with a surprise road hazard.. but the attachment point is aluminum so mathematically at least not an enormous drop in system strength...

Again, thank you everyone. Ride safe.

ps - I haven't seen any other CB's in Nuuk. I assert that to be a 100% true statementSmile

The German made Vario foot pegs are not like the cheap Chinese made ones.
