Puig Windscreen Quality

Afternoon to all. I’m hoping to get some feedback on the Puig products. I ordered a Naked New Generation and it arrived yesterday. Appearance is great but as soon as I picked it up I was concerned at how flimsy it seemed. It doesn’t seem very durable and plastic surface feels soft (not very scratch resistant) as opposed to windscreens I’ve had in the past. Even the support brackets are plastic. I don’t really want to install it bc I obviously won’t be able to return it but anyone here who runs one of these want to chime in on their experience with the Puig?

I did extensive research on windscreens that were in keeping with the Naked Bike look But also supply a functional improvement as far as reducing wind pressure against the rider torso. There have been some Forum members that have used Puig screens similar to the one you list with good result. The plastic brackets do sound a bit concerning as far as durability though.

I looked up the Puig you list on Revzilla. Good looking screen on a CB1100. That said, for what you are paying, I suggest you take a hard look at the Dart Classic Flyscreen and the Dart Marlin. The mounting brackets are stainless steel, and specific to each bike. The quality Dart puts into their stuff is first rate. Mind you, I am not putting Puig or any other screen down, or saying Dart is the only way to go. What I am saying is take your time, be aware of all your options, what suits your requirements, and personal taste best before plunking down your hard earned money. In that way, you will have better odds of not ending up like some folks that have a nonreturnable windscreen sitting on a garage shelf.

Thanks for the reply. I am a committophobe so I spent a lot of time going over the choices. Dart was my runner up and I went with Puig because I preferred look over the darts. However After opening the box I was thinking the same thing about hard earned money spent. It might be going back to revzilla for one of the Dart models.

I had a Puig rear hugger mudguard on my F800GT. Product was very expensive for how simple it was, with few components. It was designed with a stress point in the steel bracket that snapped and broke under continuous flexing. Puig was reluctant to replace the bracket due to clearly faulty design. They finally agreed and sent me a "replacement". I waited a long time for it to arrive. When it did arrive, all it was, was the bracket. They didn't include any of the hardware, not even the captive nut that disappeared when it snapped.

Not a fan of Puig quality or customer service.

In fairness the brackets are actually metal after looking it over more carefully

I have a Puig Naked Universal with a clip on extension. It has metal brackets that attach to the headlight bolts. Pretty good quality. I’m happy with it. It’s held up fine for about 5 years.

I’ve never seen the clip on before thanks for the pic. I guess that is where the universal screens mount then. The headlight bolts?

A few mount to the headlights. A few of the Puigs and the Dart flyscreen do, maybe a few others. Most universal screens have a strut system that mount to the handlebars. Those can be larger and are more stable, secure, solid. Small screens like the Puig Naked are small enough to get away with the headlight bolt mount. The Puig I have blocks just enough air force to make riding more comfortable and it keeps bug splatters off the speedo/tach.

I installed a Puig screen on my CB 1100 and am very happy with it, perhaps you got a different model. Mine was for the CB 1100, is two piece, mounts by sturdy brackets to the top fork tube triple clamp. Does not use or interfere with the headlamp or the handlebars. My smart phone speedometer tells me it has endured a 102 mph run with no problem, for me or it.
