I reckon the oil temperature sensor is not included. Is the ambient air temperature sensor built-in the module? (don't recall)

GO: ambient sensor is built-in. Latest version uses the oil temp sensor of the engine via splicing into the sensor cable. On liquid cooled bikes a second temperature measurement channel is also available for sensing and displaying coolant temp.

A few more things based on your PM-ed questions:

- The unit (both display and brain module) is waterproof. This is achieved via casting in epoxy resin. The rotary encoder assembly (connected and used only while you configure the unit) is non-waterproof.

- Theoretically, the firmware could be updated later using the rotary encoder connector (also acts as an ISP programming header). To do so you'd need a Mac or a PC and an ISP programmer (and some familiarity with electronics and computers.)

- Connector cable between the display and brain module will be cut to measure, i.e. you can let me know the required length. Max length is about 20in or 0.5m, due to data speed constraints. Should be kept at minimum. The cable itself is ultra-flexible black silicone ribbon.

- Main wiring is made of a 4-wire black fuel/oil resistant data cable.

What comes now (before building the first unit...):

- Will make an "installation manual", and an "instruction manual" in pdf, public.

- Will post a detailed update on the latest version (so that you can clearly see what the final iteration looks/feels).

- Will do a complete video on making a unit to help with understanding "what's inside".

I will have the latest firmware available for download.

If there are any improvements, that version will be available too.

If your question is related to a functionality breaking (fatal) bug which somehow finds it's way into "production", I'd post the fixed version immediately, along with the option of sending a new unit (if someone feels uncomfortable with re-flashing the original one).

However, I seriously hope that this will never be necessary. Burn-in testing during the individual unit calibration phase is part of the manufacturing process...

If such a fatal bug did afflict the unit, would it not be simpler and more reliable to just post it back to you to be "sorted"? Only the cost of return postage...

Bazbro: Yep, that would be more cost-effective. But that would not treat you (the buyer) properly (=fixed ASAP) for a DOA (=dead on arrival) unit... Sending back the original one for refurb might still be an option.
