Bar Weight Gap Fix?

I used a very cheap and quick/simple solution to fill the "ugly gaps" on my 2014 and 2017 bikes.
It might not be a nice as the machined solution but it works.
I used o rings , 20 mm OD and about 3 mm thick.
Use silicon spray/ WD 40 to "oil" the o rings and than you can easily work them over the bar weights.
Since I was a kid I always take things apart before throwing them out and keep all the bolts , nuts , springs and o rings etc. because " you never know "
That is how I ended up with a whole can of o rings and did not have to buy them.
The gap is less obvious on the 2013 as it is all black.

Perhaps that was a red thread locker not rust on the original screw. The replacement screw had the proper part number, but was shorter than the original with no thread locker. I guess the original screws on the first year CB500Xs were too long.

There were a lot of complaints on the CB500X Forum of overtightened screws and oil filters. Unfortunately the metal of the Thai screws were often referred to as chocolate. As the CB1100s are made in Japan, hopefully we won't encounter the same thing on our CB1100s.

I always wrap the grips on any bike I buy with foam bicycle handlebar tape and fill any gaps with an O ring.

I think by defaut it has such gap from factory. It is same for my CB 2017 RS

My original OEM 2014 grips butted up to the bar weights. Grips wore out at about 40k miles, so replaced with spec OEM 2014 grips. The new grips had the gap you described. Ticked me off. Dealers said the it was for safety reasons and that all the new bikes had the gap on them.

When I bought a set of grip heater kit for my 2017 CB from Mr T) it came with a pair of bar end weight as part of the kit. - at the time I was a bit confused.
However, there is no gap after using the new bar end weight with the new heated grip.

The RHS throttle tube is held in place by the throttle assembly anyway so instead of going to all the rigmarole of making new bar end weights why not try undoing the two screws first and wiggling the assembly to close the gap? It’s only a few mm after all. I’ve done this before a number of times on different bikes and always had great results. I too then take out sideways slop by installing a thin rubber or plastic washer. Just feels nicer in the hand. On the LHS it’s even easier just stick a thin long screwdriver under the grip to break the glue, quick spray of silicon to let the grip spin easily, wiggle again, set and leave. In a day or two the grip is rock solid again. It’s like blueprinting the assembly line getting gaps even, symmetrical and balanced. Alternatively you may be blessed by not caring and be able to just ride. I can’t unfortunately and OCD is a silent companion I have learnt to live with!
