Great. Probably got [unintentionally] quarantined with some other shipment in the raster maybe containing batteries or something similar. Or the receiving crew/customs team had a Covid-related setback.

Five weeks in today's context isn't that bad.

This week I received something from the U.K. that took five weeks, which should have taken about two.

Everything gets squirted that comes into this house, can't be to careful nowadays.

I did have some chrome crash bars on the way from Germany but they got turned back at customs so a refund was given. They are difficult to get in the UK in fact everything is hard to get for the cb1100 especially if its shiny.

Any reason offered as to why they were rejected at customs? Too much tax?

The German seller on ebay supplied DHL tracking which I followed for about 3 weeks with no new activity then all of a sudden it changed to delivered to my address but wasn't. I asked neighbours if they had received it but no. On contacting the seller he said it was delivered back to him due to a customs problem and refunded me including the vat I had paid and asked would I like to buy it again as he had sorted the problem. No thanks

The carriers, e.g., DHL are the agents to collect and pass on the new VAT and any Import duties now the UK have left the European Union. They have done this for decades for other countries’ of course, buying from the USA for example has always been expensive. The same process is now being applied to European goods imported into the UK. The carriers are also charging an extra admin fee on top of that. Brexit has really interrupted UK/EU trade flows. The EU and the UK are both big losers in this respect. I imported my EX from the UK in November just before Brexit, I cannot do that now. Ireland was a massive market for 2nd hand imports of cars and bikes from the UK, it was larger than new registrations. That has completely dried up overnight. In this instance UK will lose a big local market for 2nd hand cars and the Irish will get completely ripped off with new car prices. We pay exceptionally large tax on new cars and dealers offering great deals and discounts are few and far between.
