I have only seen "spy shots" of the new Bonneville and didn't care much for what I saw.
My fear is that the classic Bonneville profile will be altered and less attractive, but I'll reserve judgement until I see one in person.
In any event, I'll be keeping the one I have.
Like the CB1100, it gets a lot of "nice restoration" comments from folks

Triumph needs to study the Kawasaki W800 to see how a modern Bonnie should look. Too bad the Kawasaki is not sold in the US.

I do like that it comes with some top end components and now decent power. The weaker suspension, single front disk and 54 (IIRC?) odd horsepower always kept me away from these. Otherwise I thought they were awesome bikes.

You're so right. I own a W800 and it's a very nice bike.
But Triumph should leave out the beveldrive, it only belongs
to the Kawa.

Kawasaki sold the earlier W model here and sales were slim so they gave up on the US market for this bike. Considering the sales record of the new Bonnie, I would guess that the W800 would sell quite well here now. My wife wants a W800 and has written several emails to Kawasaki scolding them for the lack of this model.

I promise you, it's worth the effort.
Just coming back from an evening ride with it
and it was really delicious as always.
As much as I dig my Honda, if I have to give up one of my bikes ,
I will keep the Kawa for several reasons.

Sorry 'Birds, I missed this. Yes the W800 is a good seller in OZ. Sales far exceeded the CB. As an aside I owned a W400 (yes, I said 400) for a couple of years. I liked it, particularly for city commuting. I sold it to a young hipster who wanted to café it. He insisted on a cash payement and me writing a receipt for $2000 dollars less than he actually was going to pay for it. I suspect he wanted to hide the actual price from someone. Probably his Mum. Cash (from his man-bag) and the bike were exchanged and off he wobbled on it. I did offer to show him around the bike but he gave me the "She'll be right, I can do this" routine. Next day I got a message from him saying it would not start and the battery was now flat. That was strange cause this bike was a first turn starter. I called him and asked him wether for the first start of the day he used full choke (it was winter) and as soon as it fired reduce the choke to just keep the engine running smoothly then, after about a kilometre, get rid of the choke. His reply? A long silence and then, "What's a choke?". Aaaaaaaaargh! Armed with jumper cables I took the CB to his assistance.

Beautiful machine Ptero. I was not aware of that model. The bevel cam drive is especially nice.

"What's a choke" is funny and what one might expect from a young fellow.
